Ranking the Marvel Villains: From Worst to Best

Marvel, throughout its decade long run, have had some memorable villains and then some rather lackluster antagonists at the same time. Unfortunately, Marvel is more known for having terrible bad guys with one-dimensional agendas rather than having enticing antagonists that really push these heroes to the test. Thankfully, after the last few films the villains in Marvel are getting a better wrap than they once did but there’s still work to be done. So, on that note, I’m going to provide you my ranking of the seventeen Marvel villains so far.

17. Malekith

MV5BMTYyMDA0NjcxNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTU5MDMxMDE@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,1503,1000_AL_.jpg

Malekith is definitely the worst Marvel villain. When I watched Thor: The Dark World I was flabbergasted by how laughable his ideals and his plan for universe domination was. Malekith was 100% corny and I have nothing more to say.

16. Ronan the Accuser

mv5bmjexnzkxmjmzmv5bml5banbnxkftztgwodkxotmymje-_v1_-1.jpg

I literally just watched Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday after not having seen it for quite a while and Ronan was definitely not a great villain. He was powerful, nothing more, but his corny aspect was perfect for the film and at least he was a rather formidable foe.

15. Yellow Jacket

MV5BMDIwNDY3N2ItMzIxMy00NTJiLThhNjQtNjlhOTMxODcwNzhmXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNTc3MjUzNTI@._V1_.jpg

Yellow Jacket was laughable. He was cynical, wanted to become the hero of humanity, and everything that a cliché villain is. Yellow Jacket is as forgettable as they come and that’s why he’s so low on this list.

‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Has a Teaser Trailer!

I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I mean I can’t tell you the names of every single side character or fascinating creature in the movies but I have seen every single film and I have loved them all. When Harry Potter was officially over it was a little bittersweet considering that I had practically grown up with the movies but now, with this Fantastic Beasts series the Wizarding World is not gone and I’m definitely pleased about that.

Now I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them at home last year and I did not like it at all. At first I did, considering that the movie was taking place in a different time, a different location than that of Hogwarts, and followed the stories of adults this time around rather than children and teenagers but it soon lost its magic (no pun intended) and fell flat very quickly. I disliked the movie so much I actually didn’t even finish it. And another thing that kept annoying me were the Beasts. Every rare beast was a giant bird creature. The imagination and creativity for the beasts was so lacking that I wanted to scream at times. And the CGI was pretty lackluster. All in all, it wasn’t a great debut to the new franchise.

It fell under The Phantom Menace effect because the Fantastic Beasts series is, essentially, a prequel and its debut film wasn’t nearly as good as it could’ve been.

Now it’s time for the Fantastic Beasts sequel to avenge itself and I believe it’s on its way to achieving that goal with this first teaser. Check it out:

The first thing that caught my attention was Hogwarts. Hogwarts is such a staple in the Wizarding World. It’s like seeing the Millenium Falcon in a Star Wars trailer. You’re going to immediately get excited.

Secondly, this movie will introduce a young Dumbledore which is AWESOME! Dumbledore was such a great wizard and to see him have more of a role as we get to know him in his younger years is even greater.

Third, it’s an exciting teaser. The music could’ve definitely been better but I’m happy to see this teaser caught some of that magical Harry Potter essence into its trailer with an, of course, more mature aspect as well.

Oh, and the action looked pretty enticing. The action in the first Fantastic Beasts was LAME and I’m glad to see that it doesn’t look that’ll be the case this time around.

I also like the villain more this time around.

Johnny Depp is known for playing strange characters and I know he will deliver as the villain of this new movie. In fact, I’m kind of excited to see the man who brought the dastardly Jack Sparrow to life play a wizard. That’ll be very fun to observe.

This series is undoubtedly much different than the Harry Potter series was and, if done correctly, could truly become something worth getting excited for. I love anything that’s part of the Harry Potter world so I’m hoping this movie will not disappoint and will actually be very enjoyable.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a magical day.

The Reason Why I’m Not Excited for ‘Ready Player One’

I love Steven Spielberg movies from Jaws to Jurassic Park and Gremlins, etc. His films have a special magic to them that helped turn me into such a movie fan to this day. Now he has a new installment in his long list of movie credits, Ready Player One, which is coming out this Friday but instead of feeling excitement to see it I’m just waiting for it to pass on. This is why.

MV5BOTQxMTI0MjczNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMTI0MjQxNTM@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,744_AL_.jpg

I saw the movie teaser for the first time when I went to watch Thor: Ragnarok and I was blown away. It looked like such an incredible film that I would definitely want to see. But then, when I went to see The Last Jedi, I saw the full-length trailer and it didn’t excite me as much as it had previously.

Now over the past couple of weeks my anticipation for this movie has dwindled less and less and now, as it stands, I would rather watch Pacific Rim: Uprising before it, which is kind of a shame considering the poor reviews the sci-fi film has garnered. (I love Transformers movies though so I would actually probably like Pacific Rim: Uprising despite what the critics are saying.)

MV5BYWQyYWZmZDgtNWQ0Zi00MTY1LThjNzQtNDUxMWRkNDA0NDUzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyODY1OTYxOTA@._V1_.jpg

Now, there’s nothing particularly wrong with this movie. The story looks interesting and it looks like it’ll be supreme eye candy in IMAX but I guess I’m discouraged from seeing this film because there’s too much publicity around it. In every tv spot for the film I see something new, a new twist in the plot or a new character, and when a movie is really good it doesn’t have to constantly hammer you with publicity to make you excited for the film.

Great movies like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War give you enough tantalizing imagery that’ll make you want to see the film without conveying any spoilers in the slightest. Now, I hope Ready Player One will do well at the box office compared to its past two IMAX predecessors (Tomb Raider and Pacific Rim: Uprising) but I won’t be one of those adding to its box office run.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.

The Five Saddest Moments in ‘Star Wars’

While Star Wars has a lot of fantastic, memorable and enjoyable moments the films have also provided some of the most surprising and saddest experiences I’ve ever had as a movie viewer. From the tears I shed when Padme died back in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith to the waterfall that poured from my eyes after the heartbreaking development of Rogue One there have definitely been some sad moments throughout the Star Wars franchise and I am here to share them with you. Enjoy!

Ahsoka Tano Leaves the Jedi Order

open-uri20150608-27674-1crfwhg_bf24581d-1.jpeg

I’ve just recently watched the entire series of The Clone Wars on Netflix and I was utterly blown away. I missed it when it was on Cartoon Network but in a way I’m glad because I was able to binge watch all six seasons which was a ridiculously fun experience for me. The most heartbreaking episode was definitely when Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi Order…for good. Ahsoka was an amazing character and after six seasons watching her growth from a young padawan to a talented Jedi knight she had really begun to grow on me. When she got framed for bombing the Jedi temple she went on a self-inspired investigation to prove her innocence. She was still captured by the Jedi and nearly sentenced to exile from the Jedi Order but the true culprit was caught and she was freed of all charges. But by the time her name was cleared her faith in the Jedi had been shattered and she decided to willingly walk away from the Order. It’s actually one of the saddest moments I’ve seen in Star Wars and it made me cry.

Ahsoka was one of my favorite characters in the cartoon and the end to her five season story was tragic. I know she returns in Star Wars: Rebels and even though I haven’t watched that cartoon yet either (it seems there will be more binge-watching in the future :)) I’m sure her continued story will be just as awesome.

The Vulptex or the Porg: Which Is My Favorite?

The Last Jedi introduced a lot of cool new things but two of the undoubtedly cooler additions to the film were the vulptices and the porgs.

vulptex-db-tlj_128dfbaf

The vulptices, the beautiful crystal foxes native to Crait, are absolutely gorgeous creations. In fact, I think they are the prettiest alien creatures I have ever seen in Star Wars and that’s not an exaggeration.

And the porgs are undoubtedly the cutest creatures that have been introduced in Star Wars, past the teddy bear Ewoks which I used to love but now I despise.

porg

They are round and furry, their cries are cute, their large black eyes can reel you in and leave you oohing and aw-ing for no particular reason other than the fact that they’re so adorable, and they’re just cute period. They stole the heart of Star Wars fans around the world and even though I was hesitant at first they’ve captured my heart as well. But here’s the thing, between the vulptices and the porgs, which of these new alien creatures are my favorite?

That’s a very hard choice because they’re so different on so many levels but they both leave me with the same fascination. The porgs are cute, yes. I mean who can’t practically melt seeing the Porgs fiddle with a lightsaber or sit on Chewbacca’s shoulder. And the vulptices are not only mesmerizingly beautiful but they were also heroes as they helped lead the Resistance to the one exit from the rebel base.

I think, for me, the vulptices are my favorite. Even though they didn’t have as much screen time as the Porgs who will undoubtedly make more adorable appearances in Episode IX (remember they inhabited the Millenium Falcon) whenever they were onscreen they stole the show for me. If I was in the Star Wars universe I would definitely have one as a pet, that’s how awesome they are.

But I still am a Porg fan though. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a very magical day. May the Force be with you.

The Ten Greatest Marvel Action Scenes

Marvel movies are highly based upon the superheroes and their constant struggles to save the world but at the heart of every Marvel movie are the action scenes. From Iron Man to the latest installment, Black Panther, the action scenes have either been superb or sometimes a little lackluster but at the end of the day most of the action scenes have been very, very enjoyable. So, after ten years and eighteen movies what are the ten greatest action scenes of them all? I’m very excited to share them with you and I hope you enjoy. 🙂

10. Spider-Man and the Washington Monument Rescue

MV5BMTY4MDk4NjY1NV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODYyMzM4MjI@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,738_AL_.jpg

This is a great action scene because it’s the first time Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming had to really become a hero as he saved his school mates from eminent death as they experienced an elevator accident in the Washington Monument. It’s also a visually enticing scene as Spider-Man scales the Monument all the way to the top. The view from the top will give you vertigo, it’s so high. All in all, it’s my favorite action scene of the movie.

9. The Chase Through New York

MV5BMTYyOTA5MTYwMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMTY5MDAzMDI@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,935_AL_.jpg

Doctor Strange is one of my favorite Marvel movies because it is one of the coolest and riskiest Marvel ideas they brought to the big screen. Doctor Strange is not an easy character to bring to the blockbuster world. His world of realms, magic, and psychedelic visuals could’ve been a huge mistake for Marvel to introduce into their movie timeline but they prevailed by arranging a stellar cast to tell this story and making a highly enjoyable film. And the action scenes, wow, the action scenes were out of this world, sometimes literally. I remember watching this scene in IMAX and simply being blown away. I have watched this movie over a dozen times and I still haven’t seen everything in this part.
