My Spoiler-Free Review of ‘Incredibles II’

After fourteen years of waiting and wondering and finally accepting that there would never be a sequel to The Incredibles Disney made another dream of mine come to reality with the long awaited Incredibles II. When the Disney logo opened with the classic Incredibles music playing it was like a nostalgia bomb had been dropped on my senses and I became awash in happiness. Yeah baby!

The movie starts basically where the last film stopped which was expected and takes viewers on a fun family adventure as Elastigirl goes to bring superheroes legal again and Mr. Incredible becomes a stay-at-home dad.

Baby Jack Jack steals the show as his powers slowly evolve throughout the movie and leaves you surprised at every turn by how incredibly powerful he is. He’s also the main comic relief of the film. I mean, he’s 100% hilarious.

Elastigirl is given plenty of chances to shine as she saves the day over and over again. Her action scenes are easily the best parts of the movie.

And the villain, Screenslaver, is actually an antagonist who struck a bit of fear in me despite it being an animated film. One of the reasons why The Incredibles was such a great movie was because the villain caused quite the conundrum for the heroes and Screenslaver is easily a better villain than nearly half the Marvel villains.

The music for the movie is also well composed and retains that heroic aspect that made the first one so lovable.

The action, like I said before, is brilliant and are definitely the best parts of the movie. In fact, the action is so good that now I see why it was brought out in IMAX. It was quite loud and impressive indeed. *thumbs up*

What’s Your Favorite ‘Star Wars’ Movie?

Every week I present a new segment of Who’s Your Favorite this or that but this week I’m changing it up a bit and today I’m asking you which Star Wars movie is your favorite? Star Wars is a tough topic, especially when you get into the conversation of which film in the franchise is your favorite because they’re all so good. It’s also a fun topic to broach as well, as it sparks debates and connects Star Wars fans around the world. So, out of all of the Star Wars movies, what is your favorite of the franchise? Here they all are.

1. The Phantom Menace

The Phantom Menace was the first of the prequels and while its arrival had Star Wars fans riled up its actual quality quickly turned those same fans against the movie within no time. Now The Phantom Menace is considered one of the worst entries in the franchise but it has its shining moments as well; the podrace sequence, Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, etc. It might not be the greatest movie ever made but it’s still Star Wars and that’s always awesome.

2. Attack of the Clones

Attack of the Clones is the second entry in the prequel trilogy and instead of building up a compelling foundation for the trilogy it is viewed, to most fans, as easily the worst or second to worst Star Wars film. But, like The Phantom Menace, it’s got its bright spots as Ewan Mcgregor shines as Obi-Wan Kenobi and makes the film worth watching.
