My Thoughts on ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’

The Star Wars Celebration is taking place Live at the moment and a couple of hours ago they dropped a trailer and information on the new Star Wars game which will be released this November called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I was excited. As someone who’s played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed more times than I can count I’ll have you know Star Wars games can be very fun. They can also be very terrible too though.

Both Battlefront games I have not bought because Game Informer continued to give the games mediocre scores because they were kind of boring. Now EA’s trying to redeem themselves with a new game to play and after seeing the trailer I probably won’t be playing this game either. Here’s the official trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Okay, I love the trailers for Star Wars games. They are always ridiculously epic in some capacity. I mean, have you seen the trailers for The Old Republic games? If you haven’t just go check them out. They’re like miniature movies, they’re that good.

This trailer, however, stinks. I hate to be overly negative about something but I always aim to be as honest as possible and this trailer did not make me excited about this game or the story within this game AT. ALL!! The Jedi you’re supposed to play with is giving me Anakin vibes…except worse. And the graphics look terrible. In a time when video games are looking better every day, this actually seems to look worse than The Force Unleashed…and this is the trailer!

Now what gives me hope about this story within this game are the villains.

They look SO COOL! This the Second Sister, which is supposedly one of the assassins created by the Empire who are tasked with hunting down surviving Jedi. And she comes equipped with a new trooper, the Purge troopers. I wish I could find a picture of the troopers but they truly are amazing versions of the classic Stormtrooper. I can try to give you a mental image though.

Just try imagining a black stormtrooper with a black roundish helmet that has a glowing red visor and this trooper wields a long black stick very similar to the weapons the Magnaguards (General Grievous’s bodyguards) used to use. Yeah, sounds cool, huh?

They appeared during the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order panel on the actual stage and I was like, “Wow.”

Very cool indeed.

But beyond that, no, this game doesn’t excite me. I wish I could say that it did but with that boring trailer, unfortunately, I can’t.

But, at least the teaser for Episode IX was amazing. 🙂

How do you feel about the trailer for the game? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. May the Force be with you.

  1. It’s weird. We are total opposites when it comes to SW, I think. The Episode 9 trailer really didn’t do it for me, but this game looks awesome. You shouldn’t jump to judgement just yet. Respawn is a great game developer, even stuck working under EA. This trailer gives me a Knights of the Old Republic vibe, which is still one of the best SW games ever. IN that game, you didn’t become a full lightsaber-wielding jedi until halfway through the game. You had to struggle and earn it. I get the same feeling here. You don’t start out throwing force powers and sabers around. There’s a build up. I agree with you that the first Battlefront game wasn’t very good, didn’t even have a single player campaign. But BF2 was a huge improvement. Much of the criticism was on a microtransaction scene that didn’t survive into the final game. If you like the Second Sister in this trailer, you will probably like the story in BF2. I wrote about it on my blog: http://jmwilliams.site/why-battlefront-ii-is-one-of-the-best-star-wars-films-of-this-generation/

    1. Well, I’m glad to hear you like it. For me, I’ve always preferred the movies over the games but because you’re someone who loves these Star Wars games it gives me hope that it actually might be fun you find it awesome.

Yes, the Knights of Old Republic is very fun. (And the trailers are AMAZING!) 🙂

  2. Hi there, I’m not a big gamer as I can’t afford the latest consoles or subscriptions to play the games I might have bought but I do follow gaming and I sort of came up with this as an “inspired by” design….

I modelled this three days ago in Blender 3D (Computer Aided Design software) but my last SW games were Battlefront and Lego Star Wars on the PS2/3 😦
