One of the few gripes people (and myself) had of the trailers for The Lion King is that it seemed that this remake wouldn’t be any different than the animated version that came out twenty-five years ago. Well, I was wrong. It’s actually going to have quite a few changes.
Yesterday I thought to myself, “Hmm, let me see what the runtime for this new version of The Lion King is going to be?”
I went to IMDb and first looked at the runtime for the original The Lion King. It sits at one hour and twenty-eight minutes. The new one; one hour and fifty-eight minutes! Yeah, the live-action remake is going to be thirty minutes longer than the original version! I am so thrilled. It’ll be like watching an extended version of the story I have grown to love so much.
I’m hoping the thirty extra minutes can focus on more scenes between adult Simba and his friends, Pumbaa and Timon, the growing romantic relationship between Simba and Nala, and what was happening at Pride Rock after Mufasa’s death and Simba’s disappearance with Scar and his hyena army. That would be very cool.
Whatever the case, I’m glad to see that there will be new content to enjoy with this remake, for it gives a greater incentive to go watch the film.
