‘The Rise of Skywalker’ May Have the Greatest Lightsaber Duel in ‘Star Wars’ History

We’re less than half a year away from seeing the conclusive Skywalker saga finale, The Rise of Skywalker, and much about the film is being kept top secret. But information is gradually being shared about the highly-anticipated Star Wars film and now Daisy Ridley is adding to the meager amount of official info that we have of the film so far.

In a recent interview, she spoke about that epic lightsaber duel that was teased in the special Vanity Fair issue for The Rise of Skywalker. Here’s what she had to say about the matter.

“We have a great fight. A great fight. And I was really happy that the Vanity Fair pictures did show a bit of it. It’s a great fight. Like I’ve become such a better fighter and they made the lightsabers lighter, so it actually looks like we’re swinging light and not like heavy, heavy swords. This fight, we did, it was November, we had water being thrown at us, and I got a great deal of respect because I did not, I was ‘I’m not gonna complain about the cold, I’m just not gonna do it (laughs)—so it was like a real thing of stamina. It feels really epic, and it felt epic even at the time. Imagine, we had the waves like this, and they’re gonna make the waves bigger, and one can only imagine what it’s gonna look like.”

Um…

*jaw drop*

I’m already excited about the movie! Gosh, Daisy Ridley, don’t make me even more excited with so many months left to wait for the film.

She was also asked about the tone of the movie compared to The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and this is what she had to say about that as well.

“Genre-wise, it’s different from the other two, which will become clear when the film comes out. It’s quite emotional. There’s a different drive than the previous two films, but there’s a lot of fun. I really missed John (Boyega) during the last one, but we’re back together and now Oscar (Isaac) is part of it. To me, it felt like kids going on an adventure.”

And, of course, she was asked the inevitable question about her mysterious parentage again in which she answered: “(Director J.J. Abrams) did say the question is answered. So, at the end of the film, you do know what the deal is.”

While a bit of news for The Rise of Skywalker is far and few these days it is nice to hear the actors speaking so fondly about this conclusion. I can’t wait to see what J.J Abrams has in store for us.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day. May the Force be with you.
