Here’s My Reaction to the New Trailer for ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

The final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker just dropped and honestly, I’m having mixed feelings. I get it, this is the end of an era, but the teaser felt so mysterious and powerful and this felt kind of…flat. The music was too joyous for me and while it seems like there will be some fun moments between all of the characters, which I’m super excited to see, I just…I don’t know.

Is it wrong to feel disappointed because the trailer felt too positive? I’m very confused. Anyway, here’s the trailer.

I hope you enjoyed the trailer more than I did. Tomorrow I will share my full analysis and thoughts of the trailer.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day. May the Force be with you.

The Dark Knight Lives (TWENTY-SIX)

Gloria Ramirez was in her room watching television. Around her, the evidence of the scuffle that had transpired last night in this very room still lingered, clouding everything in a disturbing gloom.

On the television, the camera stayed close to the face of the man named Goldman as he moved through Gotham Park, a crowd of excited spectators trailing after him. Continue reading The Dark Knight Lives (TWENTY-SIX)

If Only She Could Tell the Truth: Part 8

When Lando saw Qi’ra his eyes lit up.

“Qi’ra,” he oozed as he kissed her gloved hand. “You look absolutely beautiful, as always.”

Her heart fluttered in her chest but she kept her expression neutral. “Well, whenever I come to see you I always make sure to look my best.”

The Third Episode of ‘Star Wars: Resistance’ Is Expectedly Entertaining

Star Wars: Resistance takes a break from the First Order/Resistance drama, delving into the brighter side of things in an exciting and legitimately enjoyable way.

SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS EPISODE and THIS EPISODE!

After the conflict with the First Order in the previous episode, it became very clear to Captain Doza and Jarek Yeager that the Ace pilots needed an upgrade in skill. They’re clearly great racers but in the event of combat, they were less than ready and barely survived their encounter with the First Order.

This made it paramount for the Aces to learn some new skills in case of another attack. Continue reading The Third Episode of ‘Star Wars: Resistance’ Is Expectedly Entertaining

My Tribute to Carrie Fisher

[This is a repost for Carrie Fisher’s birthday.]

Star Wars is a franchise that has lived and transcended generations. The cultural phenomenon began way back in 1977 and now, after 40 years, the excitement for this seemingly unending franchise is even stronger. The question is, what was it that made this science-fiction space opera resonate with so many people? Was it the lore of the story, was it the music, was it the characters? I believe there was a collaboration of all of these different aspects but the characters were a huge part of why A New Hope 40 years ago became such a global hit.

You had Luke, the simple farm boy who wanted to explore the stars and follow in the footsteps of his “dead” father. Then there was Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi, the wise mentor. You had the rascally Han Solo, a scoundrel at first meeting but a hero at heart.

And finally, you have Princess Leia, which this post is dedicated to.

At the time when A New Hope entered theaters in 1977 princesses were defined as damsels in distress stuck in towers. Princess Leia rewrote that narrative.

Princess Leia didn’t run screaming from the stormtroopers, she shot at them. Princess Leia didn’t whimper in the face of Darth Vader, she patronized him. This was pretty much unheard of in that day and age of movies.

She was one of the pioneers of all the strong women you have in film today. Throughout A New Hope she never played the role of damsel in distress. And yes, she was rescued, but she didn’t treat her rescuers like they were “her heroes.” She instead told them off for not coming up with a better escape plan.
