Zoe Saldana has become one of the most famous actresses in the world for her work in the science-fiction genre of cinema and she is easily one of my favorite actresses for her astounding work. So, here’s my ranking of all of the movies I’ve seen her in.
9. Star Trek: Beyond
Maybe it’s because I’m not a Star Trek fan. No, when I think back on it, this movie was pretty awful. The story was unengaging, I didn’t care about any of the characters, and even though I watched it all the way through I found myself very disinterested by the end.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Zoe Saldana’s role as the troubled assassin Gamora has made her legendary in the pop culture fandom and there’s a reason. She’s awesome! However, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as visually captivating as it is, truly annoys me because it is so much worse than its predecessor.
7. Death at a Funeral
Some people may have seen this movie and thought it was ridiculous. I agree…but it was also hilarious! It’s hard for a comedy to make me laugh. This movie made me laugh constantly. There were some truly shocking plot twists and plenty of comedic actors to make this outrageous storyline enjoyable.
6. Star Trek: Into Darkness
I went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness with my family in the movie theaters in 2013. I actually really enjoyed it…until I realized it was basically a ripoff of one of the best Star Trek movies ever made, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. But yeah, it was pretty good.
Avatar is one of the best science-fiction films ever made, delivering a simple storyline that’s been done over and over remixed in a dazzling world that sucked in millions of viewers. It was a groundbreaking film when it was made and Zoe Saldana’s role as the fierce Neytiri is one of the reasons why I enjoy this movie.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Zoe Saldana’s role in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was minor but it was her first major appearance in a major blockbuster, making her role in this film one of my favorites.
Plus, the movie’s really good.
3. Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame is an AMAZING movie, no doubt about that. However, over the months since its release, it’s lost a bit of its grandeur. Not that the movie isn’t phenomenal or very well-made, but its only true shining moment is the first fifteen minutes and the last hour. The rest is just…entertainment. But it is a great movie though.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
Zoe Saldana made her Marvel debut in Guardians of the Galaxy and it was very apparent from the first trailer that she was going to be a super awesome character. Tough, determined, and heroic, Gamora is a major part of the reason why I love this movie so much.
1. Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is hands down one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, filled with plot twists, exciting character developments and interactions, and outstanding action scenes, all underneath a powerful musical score that I have on my Spotify because I love it so much.
And Gamora’s role, while it may be limited, is a huge contributor to the power of this movie and Thanos’s horrific story.
So, this is how I rank all of the films I’ve seen Zoe Saldana. Once again, unlike the male actors that I’ve introduced in this series, none of her roles have been lead roles. She has only ever been a side character to the male characters, showing once again how cinema treats most female actresses in movie roles.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
