A little over a month ago my A Movie Ranking post that I shared focused on Tom Hanks. Well, since then, I have seen two new films of his, so I figured I had an obligation to update this list. Enjoy!
12. The Post
Nominated for two Oscars, one including Best Picture of the Year, my family and I watched The Post and I was not impressed. It was super boring, I barely remember anything about the film other than being bored to tears for nearly two hours.
11. Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2 was okay. I’ve seen it about one and a half times and I still don’t remember what the movie was about.
This was a pretty good movie. I mean, it wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen but it was definitely worth watching.
9. Toy Story 4
Toy Story 4 is good but it’s the same formula with a predictable conclusion that yeah, brought tears to my eyes, but didn’t leave a powerful stamp on my heart.
Garnering Tom Hanks his first Oscar nomination, Big is the most recent new Tom Hanks film that I’ve watched and it was a fun movie. With an interesting concept that kept a smile on my face I enjoyed the film thoroughly…until the heavy romantic aspect of the story got a little weird considering that he’s really a 13-year-old boy dating this twenty-something year-old woman. 😬
7. Cast Away
So good! I still haven’t seen this movie from beginning to end but despite that, this movie is still phenomenal.
Rewarding Tom Hanks his first Oscar win, Philadelphia tells a story that hadn’t been told at the time in cinema; the dangers and horror of HIV. While this isn’t my favorite Tom Hanks film, I’m definitely happy that I’ve seen it.
Man, I loved this movie. It was so freaking sweet. Oh my goodness. I loved it so much! And it made me cry so hard. Ugh, it’s a beautiful film. And it’s a Disney movie. That makes it even better.
4. Toy Story
Utterly brilliant, Toy Story takes childrens’ most beloved possessions, toys, and gives them a delightful adventure full of heart and humor.
3. Bridge of Spies
My sister and I watched Bridge of Spies and were expecting it to be boring, like The Post. Oh no. Bridge of Spies is amazing. Absolutely amazing! It tells the true story of an American lawyer who was assigned, by the CIA, to negotiate a deal with the Soviets to bring a captured American pilot home. Fascinating stuff, I’m telling you. It was so good, I’d watch it again, and probably enjoy it even more than I did the last time.
This is undoubtedly one of Tom Hank’s best films.
2. Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3 is only the second animated film to be nominated for Best Animated Film and Best Picture of the Year (the first was Up) and deservedly so. This movie is so good, delivering a fantastic new array of characters and a whopping emotional ending that leave you in a lake of your own tears. It’s a very, very great movie.
1. Forrest Gump
Is this even a surprise? Forrest Gump is undoubtedly one of the best movies ever made. A riveting tale from beginning to end that will leave you crying your eyes out, Forrest Gump is nothing short of extraordinary.
What’s your favorite Tom Hanks movie? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
