Survivor: Winners at War has continued to impress me, delivering riveting episode after riveting episode as these players find new ways to make each week more and more interesting. This latest episode, War Is Not Pretty, has definitely been the best episode so far.
There was an awesome reward in Chinese takeout, Sarah gave up her reward to Nick because it was his birthday but the kind gesture only made these veterans skeptical, Michelle gave up her four Fire Tokens to gain a powerful advantage in the game in the form of a 50/50 Immunity Idol which will probably come into play sometime later in the game, paranoia at camp after the Immunity challenge was high, leading to a hilarious scramble from all eleven remaining players left in the game, oh wait, that’s not all.
In the middle of all of this ruckus, we have Adam Klein, a player who has been paranoid about his eventual boot off of the island since before the two tribes split into three tribes earlier this season. Adam with his constantly shifting gaze and clearly “on the edge” demeanor has driven his fellow tribemates batty for weeks but he’s been kept around because there were always bigger targets while he was simply an easy vote out. However, this week, he had the chance to sit pretty. The target wasn’t even on him. It was on Nick and Sarah, but as soon as he joined the fray things went haywire.
Throughout the mayhem, Adam comes up with a clever plan that could potentially save his you-know-what. He’s noticed a bit of decoration on the podium at tribal council. Because it resembles the symbol of a past immunity idol he immediately assumes that it’s a hidden idol directly in his face. So what happens at tribal council when he’s clearly on the chopping block after going off the rails? He tries to claim the not-that-hidden immunity idol right in front of him, only to discover that it is, indeed, simple decoration, delivering an instantly iconic moment in Survivor history.
My family and I couldn’t believe what we were seeing. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, THAT happened. Whoa.
I knew this season had the chance to be one of the best of all time but it’s already managed to exceed my expectations in ways I couldn’t have dreamed of expecting. I’m very excited to see what happens next week and what new madness these players will get themselves into during another after-Immunity-challenge scramble.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.
