A Movie Ranking: Russel Crowe

Russel Crowe is an amazing actor. I didn’t truly know as much until I saw his performance in A Beautiful Mind which completely blew my mind. (He should’ve won Best Actor.) Considering that I’ve been watching a lot of movies starring the New Zealand actor lately I figured he would be the perfect person for this week’s A Movie Ranking. Enjoy!

6. The Mummy

The Mummy (2017)

This movie is horrible. So horrible that I can’t believe an actor as great as Russel Crowe would even think of being in this film. It’s truly baffling.

5. Noah

Jennifer Connelly, Russell Crowe, Logan Lerman, and Emma Watson in Noah (2014)

I went to see Noah in the movie theaters. It was the only time I watched this film. The movie isn’t one of the worst I’ve ever seen but compared to the next four films on this list it’s pretty much garbage.

Crowe’s performance in the film, however, is memorable…mainly because he was basically a Maximus in a Biblical setting. Lol.

4. Man of Steel

Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Richard Schiff, Michael Shannon, Ayelet Zurer, Dylan Sprayberry, Samantha Win, and Rebecca Buller in Man of Steel (2013)

I mainly watch Man of Steel every now and then because I like the music but who can deny the awesome fact that Russel Crowe plays Superman’s father in this modern remake of the Superman story? That simple detail always makes me happy.

3. 3:10 to Yuma

Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in 3:10 to Yuma (2007)

I just watched this movie and what can I say, I enjoyed the heck out of it. And, by the way, Russel Crowe makes one heck of a convincing cowboy. Yee-ha! 👍

2. Gladiator

Russell Crowe in Gladiator (2000)

Gladiator is the epitome of a well-made movie. Great writing, phenomenal acting, a horrible villain, breathtaking sets and costumes, chill-inducing music, this movie’s got it all. If you had told me a few weeks ago Gladiator would be my second favorite Russel Crowe movie I probably wouldn’t have believed you but…I’ve watched a film of his that managed to blow my mind in ways that not many movies can.

1. A Beautiful Mind

Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind (2001)

And that film is A Beautiful Mind. The storyline caught me by surprise, the acting was phenomenal, and by the film’s conclusion I could not stop the tears both times I watched the movie, once by myself. The other time, with my sister, who also couldn’t hold back the tears.

This movie would win Best Picture and deservedly so. You don’t see movies like this every day and that’s why I love it so much. Plus, Russel Crowe gets to truly let his acting chops shine and when he does that, the movie is destined to be enjoyable.

This has been a fun movie ranking. Now, all we need him to do is to either join Star Wars or Marvel. That would be an absolute dream come true. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a tremendous day.
