I’m So Excited for ‘Hamilton’!

Honestly, I can’t believe I’m going to see Hamilton this Friday. The hit Broadway musical took the world by storm in 2015, becoming one of the few Broadway musicals that I felt truly interested in seeing one day. However, I thought to be honest that the chances of seeing it were very slim indeed so imagine my surprise when I learned it was coming to Disney+. I was through the roof with excitement.

Now, in a mere four days, I will get to see the musical in all of its splendid glory and I am beyond thrilled. If it’s as fantastic as people say it should be one of the most thrilling experiences I’ve ever had and I am so ready for every morsel of this delight Disney will give us this July.

Will you be watching Hamilton on Disney+? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Has One Major Problem: Its Treatment of Women

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was the final installment in the X-Men franchise before Disney would get its Mickey Mouse paws on these characters and stories and while it was received with scathing reviews I happen to enjoy the film. But there is a problem. A problem that I find is a common theme when it comes to these superhero movies.

In Avengers: Endgame Black Widow, a character fans had grown to love over the years, was killed, ceremoniously, but killed nonetheless without given any chance to truly shine. We saw her cry, we saw her sacrifice herself, but she was never able to kick butt in any awesome action scenes and she wasn’t around during the final battle against Thanos, which only felt even more gutwrenching as the women in Marvel assembled for a powerful charge against Thanos’ forces in one of the best scenes in the entire MCU.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix treats its female characters with the same sad lack of awesomeness. Continue reading ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Has One Major Problem: Its Treatment of Women

My First James Bond Movie: ‘Casino Royale’

I love movies and as an avid movie lover, of course, I know about James Bond. Who doesn’t? However, I have never seen a single James Bond movie…until today. And that James Bond film just so happened to be one of the best ones and the debut of Daniel Craig’s take on the “devilishly handsome British agent” known as 007/James Bond: Casino Royale.

I love action movies and I am a HUGE fan of the Mission: Impossible movies and I really like John Wick films as well. James Bond was a whole other ball game. It’s basically the Mission: Impossible films except filled with romantic subplots that act as side scenes between the action. I found myself riveted by the storyline in Casino Royale, mainly the romantic drama toward the end of the film that had me legitimately transfixed to the screen. By the time it went off, I began to understand why people like these movies and this character so much and I now have an interest in seeing Skyfall eventually.

However, I will always be a loyal Ethan Hunt fan. Tom Cruise brings the IMF agent to life as he performs stunts that will BLOW. YOUR. MIND in the later films. And Keanu Reeves is the ultimate assassin as he kicks serious butt for a couple of hours in a very violent fashion.

I’m just glad that my first James Bond experience was such a good one.

I’m giving Casino Royale 95 out of 100 and 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was a pretty entertaining action film and that’s all anyone can ask for really.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
