The Skywalker Saga has come to an end and who knows when we’ll be getting another Star Wars movie. So, this will be my final ranking for a while now that I have The Rise of Skywalker to add to the collection. So, with no further delay, here goes.
1. Rogue One
This still cannot be topped. Featuring a gritty story that didn’t play by the rules, Rogue One is practically a condensed Star Wars: Rebels spin-off in movie form. It even features Darth Vader in a really exciting way at certain points.
2. The Empire Strikes Back
I mean, come on. You don’t get much better than this. The worlds were fascinating, the character developments were perfect, and the last thirty minutes of the film is utter perfection.
3. Revenge of the Sith
After revisiting Revenge of the Sith again I’ve realized more and more how good this movie actually is. The climactic tones are there, the lightsaber duels are the bomb, and boy that ending. That’s how the ending of a trilogy is supposed to be! Tears. So many tears.
4. The Force Awakens
Joy. Oh, so much joy. This is the movie that made me believe in Disney. Why is writing that sentence now making me emotional?
5. The Last Jedi
The Last Jedi isn’t perfect but what it gets right allows the film to soar. The evolutions of the Force, the character developments, that jaw-dropping ending, The Last Jedi moves the franchise forward in a fresh, new way that is truly brilliant at times.
6. A New Hope
This was the movie that started it all. Yeah, it can be a bit boring now but overall, its simplicity and innovation/genius filmmaking is still astounding.
7. The Phantom Menace
I’m not going to lie; I love The Phantom Menace. It has so many elements that I absolutely love and Darth Maul is still one of the greatest characters ever to be created for the franchise.
8. Return of the Jedi
I enjoy Return of the Jedi, mainly the ending, but I’m not a fan of the Ewoks (especially after The Rise of Skywalker.) Hence, this sits at #8 on this list.
10. Solo: A Star Wars Story
Solo isn’t a bad movie, not in the slightest, but I find it to be the least watchable of the Star Wars movies. So, #9 it is.
10. The Rise of Skywalker
If you had told me a month ago that I would place The Rise of Skywalker at #10 on this list I probably wouldn’t have believed it but unfortunately, this is the case. Honestly, I almost made this my least favorite Star Wars movie of all time but because I love the characters so much and because there were a few ideas that were actually kind of good in the context of the film and the saga, I have it here instead.
11. Attack of the Clones
Irritating conversations about sand? Check. Icky suck-facing between two actors who have zero chemistry? Check. A ridiculous lightsaber duel between Yoda and Count Dooku? Check. Horrible dialogue that can sometimes make you cringe. Yep, this is the worst Star Wars movie.
Well, that’s my newest ranking of the Star Wars movies.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day. May the Force be with you, always.
