A Woman Needs to Be the Lead In Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie

Christopher Nolan is a heck of a movie maker, a fact validated after I recently watched two more of his films, TENET and Memento. TENET would be quite the occasion for several reasons but one such reason was that it would be the first Nolan film to feature a black man as his lead character and it was a refreshing change of pace.

But the refreshing thing about it wasn’t the fact that this movie had a black lead. It was refreshing feeling how normal it felt, how the movie’s script never made it a point to call out that this story had a black lead other than a subtle quip at some point in the movie.

However, the women in Nolan’s stories aren’t exactly damsels in distress, but they aren’t the leads in his stories either. They are either deemed as a love interest or as a particular piece of eye candy for the film.

I would love to see a Nolan film featuring a female lead and who wouldn’t be better for such a role than Charlize Theron?

We’ve seen her assume the lead role in plenty of films and we know she can kick some serious butt. Just look at her roles in Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde, or her latest movie, the Netflix action flick, The Old Guard.

And even if he doesn’t choose Theron, we need to see one of his next movies feature a woman at the helm of his next mind-boggling story.

What do you think? Do you believe that Nolan’s next film should feature a woman as the lead character? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.

  1. Would be kinda cool. Another possibility: Chloe Moretz. If you haven’t seen “Kick Ass” to see her as Hit Girl, you should. Still my favorite child actress performance ever. If she can bring even half of that as an adult, I’ll be ok with it.
