I Just Read a Potential Spoiler for ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’…And Now I Really Want It to Happen!

The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier delved into some fascinating character development for its title characters but it didn’t fail to introduce some fun side characters along the way; namely First Lieutenant Torres, Sam’s sister Sarah Wilson, Bucky’s therapist, and Bucky’s new hangout buddy, Yori Nakashima.

Torres was a breakout star from the first episode among viewers and now I’ve learned something that has absolutely blown my mind. Now, it may be a MAJOR SPOILER what I’m about to say so if you’d rather stay surprised STOP READING NOW!

Okay…here we go.

Who Is Joaquin Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

In the show we see Torres as a character like Robin to Sam’s Batman, or in this case, The Falcon. He’s young, likable, and is an associate of an Avenger. Seems like the type of character the minds behind the MCU may want to keep around for a while, right?

Well, turns out, Torres may play a bigger role than we may believe.

What's in Store for FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER's Joaquin Torres? - Nerdist

In the comics, Joaquin Torres eventually becomes the new Falcon when Sam Wilson becomes Captain America. His origin is a little different than the MCU version would probably be. In the comics, Redwing (an actual bird) is used to conduct an experiment on a captured Torres which then transforms Torres into an actual half falcon/half human hybrid Avenger.

I’m sure that won’t happen in this story but it’s very possible that by the end of this series, the mantle of The Falcon could pass to Torres, or maybe, if he survives, he can become The Falcon in the future.

Of course, this is just a theory. If WandaVision is anything to go by, it’s become kind of clear that these series are designed to be personal character studies but WandaVision did give us Monica Rambeau and her evolution into a new superhero. In that sense of each series giving us at least one new potential future Avenger…hmm? Could this really be happening?

We’ll see what happens in the next five weeks but for now, I’m just loving this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
