Now Let’s Talk About That Finale of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

Well, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over and yet I’m still not over it. The joy, the emotions, my heart is still soaring with the realization/visualization of Sam Wilson embodying Captain America so perfectly. Marvel just can’t seem to stop being awesome and it’s almost overwhelming. And to think that we’re getting Loki and Black Widow soon is exciting too!

But enough about the future. Let’s talk about that episode and all of its juiciest details.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Okay, we’ve honestly got to talk about it, right? That suit! Oh my goodness, isn’t it a beauty. Marvel Studios always finds way to take inspiration from the comics in terms of design for these characters. Sometimes they take mild inspiration. In this case, they went full comic accurate and I think it was a brilliant move.

The pristine white, the striking blue and balancing of red, it’s a color scheme that Steve Rogers’ Captain America never had and that’s why I think it’s so perfect. It differentiates him from Steve Rogers instantly while adding his own striking legacy to the story.

I love it!

And Sam sure knows how to use that shield doesn’t he?! Wow!

Bucky’s return to being a hero and not only being called “Sergeant Barnes” but being thanked for rescuing someone was so heartwarming. Bucky has had such a tumultuous journey and to now see him treated like a hero for the first time in roughly 80 years is one of the best moments in the episode for me.

John Walker is redeemed? Not exactly but the finale definitely leaves his part in the story up to interpretation. We know the government doesn’t like him anymore publicly, but Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) seems to have an idea of what to do with him. Turn him into the U.S Agent for times when the dirty work will need to be done that Captain America won’t be able to do.

But, this doesn’t suddenly mean that Walker is a good guy. In fact, he’s secretly going to be working for a woman who’s known in the comics as Madame Hydra!

So no, this particular standoff hasn’t happened yet…but it’s going to!👏

Bye-bye, Flag Smashers. Honestly, I was trying to like Karli and get into her fight but after she threatened Sam’s sister I was done with this angry gal. I knew she wasn’t going to survive because the writers had clearly not made her likable enough to allow her to stay alive.

But can we all just give a shout-out to Zemo’s ruthless butler? I love him and Zemo. They are hilarious!

I knew it! I knew Sharon was the Power Broker and I love it. She was boring as this simple agent who had a crush on Steve Rogers. That was seven years before the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I think it makes perfect sense to have Sharon throw a finger to society placing her on this pedestal as Peggy’s perfect grand-niece and now she gets to forge her own path…as a bad*** baddie.

I mean, I get it. I’d be mad too if during those seven years since she was forced to be a fugitive I never got so much as a call from Steve or a much-needed pardon. The Avengers and the government left her out to dry and now she’s going to repay them with a little butt kickery. Let’s go, Sharon-who’s-finally-interesting-now-Carter!

Plus, that conclusion with Isaish Bradley was so powerful, poignant, and beautiful. In fact, it made me ugly cry. By the way, I haven’t ugly cried to another Marvel installment since Endgame so that’s saying something.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, or should I say Captain America and the Winter Soldier was the perfect next step in Sam and Bucky’s steps. I’m talking absolute perfection. And now we’ve got Walker added to the mix.

Oh, and I’d like to give another shout out to the fact that Sam’s got vibranium wings!!! It’s so amazing on every level I just can’t handle it.
