The Ten Best Movies in the Last Decade

Great movies, they’re hard to find. Yes, there are plenty of good movies that pop up through the years but a GREAT movie that keeps on giving for years to come…that’s hard to find. I know I probably should’ve done this post last year at the beginning of this decade but oh what the heck. I’m doing it now.

Here’s my list of the ten best movies in the last decade. Enjoy!

Inception (2010)

The Untold Truth Of Inception

In 2010, two years after Christopher Nolan’s incredible newest cinematic masterpiece, The Dark Knight, he returned with a mind-bending sci-fi action-thriller that took imagination to a whole other level.

With an all-star cast featuring Leonardo Dicaprio, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, and more, Inception found the perfect balance between mindnumbingly trippy and incredibly entertaining, resulting in one of the greatest movies of all time.

Interstellar (2014)

The Surprising Science Behind The Movie 'Interstellar'

It’s honestly no surprise that Nolan would have two entries on this list considering that’s he one of the best filmmakers of all time. Interstellar would be the first Nolan film I would ever see in theaters (in IMAX by the way) and it was an experience I’ll never forget.

Interstellar is the epitome of a space-adventure movie while managing to infuse so much heart into the story that you’ll be an emotional wreck halfway into the film. And if you’re not crying your eyes halfway into the movie you definitely will be destroyed emotionally at the end.

Interstellar is honestly the best science-fiction film since 1968’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

My Favorite Father Figures in Entertainment

It’s Father’s Day and that means it’s time to look at some of the greatest father figures in cinema. Enjoy!

Scott Lang a.k.a Ant-Man

There aren’t a lot of fathers in the MCU but the most prominent and consistent father/child relationship is Scott and Cassie Lang. Scott cherishes his daughter more than anything in the world and his daughter wants to be just like her dad. It’s an ultra-cute dynamic that has continued over the course of three movies (Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Avengers: Endgame.)

Now, it’s very likely that the next Ant-Man film will see our first superhero father/daughter team-up which is truly an exciting prospect!

‘A Quiet Place II’ Gets an Official Trailer

A couple of years ago, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt made a movie together that would become one of the critically-acclaimed films of 2018, A Quiet Place. No, it wasn’t the best science-fiction movie ever made but it was easily the best sci-fi/horror film since Alien.

With an original concept and a storyline that was handled perfectly, A Quiet Place turned out to be actually quite a good film. And now, its sequel is a few months from arriving. Here’s the first official trailer.

I have a feeling this movie is going to be just as good, just in a more action-packed way. This is definitely one film to look forward to this year.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a tremendous day.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘A Quiet Place’ Is The Best Sci-Fi Movie I’ve Seen In Years

When I saw the trailer for A Quiet Place while watching Justice League I immediately knew I wanted to see this movie. I’m not a fan of scary movies in the slightest. I refuse to watch The Exorcist and I’ve just recently gotten the guts to watch The Shining all the way through. Scary movies are my allergy but this film felt like something I had to see. I’ve never seen a movie where the premise is that you have to stay completely silent to avoid being found by a mysterious something or else you will perish. I knew this film was going to be scary but the premise sounded too original and cool not to watch. I ended up missing the opportunity to see it in the movie theaters but I finally got to see it on digital at home and it was surprisingly better than I expected.

A Quiet Place is about a family who, in a post-apocalyptic world where any sound can get them killed, is just trying to survive. The movie starts a little slow but soon establishes the seriousness of the situation the family is going through in a legitimately horrifying fashion. The story then showcases the family living a somewhat ordinary life despite their obvious noise-making hindrance but when life hits with a bang (literally) things go awry real fast.

What impressed me the most about this film is its realistic situations. This movie could’ve easily turned south real fast by having the family participate in wild escapades that would’ve turned the film into a typical PG-13 action film where the protagonists are supposedly invincible (like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.) The writers for A Quiet Place, however, kept the suspense up and never let the movie get corny in any way. Let me give you an example. SPOILERS AHEAD!

‘A Quiet Place’ Is The Best Sci-Fi Movie I’ve Seen In Years

When I saw the trailer for A Quiet Place I immediately knew I wanted to see this movie. I’m not a fan of scary movies in the slightest. I can barely watch leastwise hear The Exorcist and I’ve just recently gotten the guts to watch The Shining all the way through. Scary movies are my allergy but this film felt like something I had to see. Here Are My Favorite Trailers from Super Bowl LII

One of the reasons why I was so excited to see the Super Bowl was for the trailers. I’m, as you can tell from my blog, a huge movie lover and so to be able to see so many fabulous movie trailers in one night is a blast for me. Today I’m going to share with you all of the trailers from the Super Bowl that managed to blow my mind. Enjoy!

Skyscraper

I’m not a big fan of movies with Dwayne Johnson in them. They’re usually super corny and films that I just don’t want to see but I have to say, this one interested me a little bit. The story is intriguing and, if executed right, could be really enjoyable. I would totally go see this if I’m having a boring day and I just want to see an action flick.

A Quiet Place

The first time I saw the trailer for this movie was during Justice League and it frightened the mess out of me. The theater was so densely quiet and I was trying to figure out what was going on. I am not a horror film fan whatsoever. I mean I used to cry at Michael Jackson’s Thriller when I was a young child for crying out loud, that’s how much I don’t like scary stuff, but this movie’s plot is so terrifyingly interesting I want to see it.

What is it that they have to stay quiet about? What is going on? I like that the trailers are providing enough tantalizing imagery while keeping the secret of what the horrific villain, or villains will be. That’s great marketing because the only way I’m going to find out who it is their hiding from is if I go see it in the movies. Smart move, Paramount, smart move.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

This trailer had me immediately engaged due to its horrifying beginning. I mean that’s the worst way to wake up right? *shudder* Then as the trailer goes along it slightly veers away from that horror aspect that the trailer began with but it still had me engaged.

What this trailer conveyed to me was that the creators behind the Jurassic Park franchise have realized we, as viewers, don’t exactly care about a story. We want dinosaurs! The more and more dinosaurs you have the more enjoyable the film will be for everyone watching the movie in IMAX and this Jurassic World movie is no exception. They’re going to make sure that they have you watching the movie afraid at every turn, at every monstrous growl rumbling through the theater, and at every open dinosaur maw filled with racks of knife-sharp teeth about to eat someone. I appreciate that because that’s the only reason why I enjoyed the last one. It was a monster movie and I enjoyed every bit of the screaming humans and roaring dinosaurs rattling my brain in that IMAX theater andI know I’m going to have a great time again watching more screaming humans and more roaring dinosaurs in this sequel. 🙂
