A Fun Double Header: ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘Mortal Kombat’

It’s 9:30am ET as I write this and honestly I’m so amped up right now because I watched the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Mortal Kombat back to back and both blew my mind. So, let’s start with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

I have loved Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes since Captain America: The Winter Soldier but it wasn’t until this show that my heart absolutely exploded with adoration for both these characters and these actors. For these last six weeks I have been on an emotional ride that has been so much fun to observe and that finale was perfect.

WandaVision was great and it had a decent finale but it left a lot of loose threads. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier does not leave anything to the imagination or any questions unanswered. Everything is wrapped up in a nice little bow while also very clearly setting up plot threads for a second season, which is very exciting by the way.

I clapped, I beamed, I laughed, and yeah, I cried a lot. There were some truly profound moments in this finale that really spoke to the theme of this series and yeah, as an African-American, this series just really hit me in the feels.

I have loved Captain America for years and this show just cemented that fact yet again.

Tomorrow I’ll talk a bit more about the plot points in the finale and what we could expect from a second season but for now I’m just thanking Marvel for this masterpiece because that’s what it was.

A+

We’re One Week Away from ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

I can’t believe I’m finally writing this! It’s only a week until The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and I am ecstatic.

Falcon has always been one of my favorite MCU characters since The Winter Soldier and now that this is practically his origin story for becoming the new Captain America…that’s nice.

Plus, Bucky has been just as fascinating. He was a fallen hero-turned-Hydra assassin. There is so much darkness that can be explored in his past thanks to this. And now he’s being forced to team up with someone who he actually isn’t that particularly fond of. The buddy cop theme is going to be hilarious, as is already on display in the trailers and newest tv spots so…I’m just ready!

And by the way, we’re getting the return of Zemo and Agent Carter. Let’s go!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

We’re Just a Few Months Away from ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

It seems like this year for movies has been busted up. We didn’t get to see Mulan or Black Widow. Summer movies have been delayed to next year. It’s an unprecedented moment in US history and I am very saddened by the future prospects of cinema.

However, there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and it involves the live-action series that will arrive later this year on Disney+. One such series is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. To say I’m excited about this series is an understatement.

I can’t wait to eventually hear news about this series, which should arrive in the coming months, or even weeks. Gosh, I’m so ready to see this story and how it will affect the MCU phases moving forward. I just have to wait a little longer.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a tremendous day.

A Six-Year Poster Evolution: Falcon

Yesterday’s character posters for this series focused on my favorite Marvel superhero Doctor Strange. It was fascinating looking at his various posters since Doctor Strange and now, today, it’s time to look at Falcon’s character posters since his debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Enjoy!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is easily one of the best superhero movies ever made and one of the reasons why it is so magnificent is because of Falcon. His role in the film was exceptional and he instantly became one of the coolest characters in the MCU.

This poster is fun to look at because it shows how far he has come. At the time he was equipped with this rugged version of the Falcon exo-suit and wore nothing more than this grey shirt and camouflage pants. This was before he joined The Avengers and you can totally tell.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier Are Getting a Show!

So if you’ve been keeping up with Disney you know the company is making a streaming service that’s set to come out next year called Disney Play. This streaming service is going to deliver exclusive content to everyone for a minimal fee. That includes new Star Wars content, Disney films, animated exclusives, but it also seems that the service will give us some exciting new things to look forward to with Marvel as well.

A few weeks ago it was announced that the streaming service would feature television shows focusing on two Marvel favorites; Scarlet Witch and Loki. Whether Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston will reprise the roles is still a mystery but the talk of these series has been circling. But now there’s been an update.

As of yesterday, it was announced that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan would reprise their roles as Falcon and Bucky a.k.a The Winter Soldier for a limited series on the Disney Play streaming service. And get this. It’s already found a writer for the series. Now, how exciting is that?

Falcon and Bucky are some of my favorite heroes in the MCU but they’re never given much to do other than be awesome sidekicks. Well, that changes with this limited series and I can’t wait to watch it. It’s going to be awesome!

How do you feel about this news? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.

The Evolution of Falcon

One of the reasons Captain America: The Winter Soldier is my favorite Marvel film is because it introduced Falcon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sam Wilson a.k.a Falcon is so ridiculously cool. He was a great dude, his superhero identity was downright amazing, and every time he has appeared in a Marvel movie I get so happy. So, today on the two week mark until Avengers: Infinity War I’m celebrating his evolution since his debut four years ago. Enjoy!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Before I saw these Marvel films I didn’t know anything about these superheroes. In fact, the only Marvel superhero I knew was Spider-Man so when Sam Wilson appeared in The Winter Soldier I didn’t know who he was or the fact that he was going to become a superhero. I just thought he was this ex-soldier who managed to befriend Captain America. So imagine my surprise when I found out he was Falcon, this super cool superhero. It was such an AWESOME surprise and it really made the film that much more enjoyable. And I’m so glad Sam’s involvement only increased.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Falcon barely made more than a cameo appearance in Age of Ultron but it was a worthy cameo, as he got a bit of fun interaction early in the movie with Captain America and then, at the end of the film, he was officially inducted as an Avenger. How incredible is that? But the surprise was the fact that his Falcon suit was transformed for the better in every aspect. The color scheme, the outfit, Falcon truly looked like an Avenger and that was so exciting.
