Avengers: Endgame: A Hero’s Redemption Part 1

I’m revisiting one of my favorite series for the next week as I celebrate one of the best superhero movies of all time, Avengers: Endgame. Enjoy!

You see, Avengers: Infinity War should’ve been called Thanos: Infinity War because the movie was really about him. The writers gave us a crash course on this psychotic villain with a “noble” plan to wipe out half of all life and as he obtained each Infinity Stone we had to watch our favorite heroes get beaten over and over again until the film’s shocking conclusion.

Thanos, however, was put on the back burner for Avengers: Endgame, allowing the writers to take these heroes who were at their very lowest and highlight their individual heroism in particular ways for their own character developments. It was beautiful to see. So beautiful in fact that I had to talk about it. This series focuses on the characters I found to have the greatest and most heroic storylines in Avengers: Endgame and I’m happy to announce the first hero of this series is Bruce Banner/Professor Hulk. Avengers: Endgame: A Hero’s Redemption Part 1

After reacquainting myself with Avengers: Endgame last week I was able to truly enjoy and observe the individual characters’ growth in the film.

It was beautiful to see. So beautiful in fact that I had to talk about it. So, for the next week, I’m sharing with you a new series called A Hero’s Redemption. This series focuses on the characters I found to have the greatest and most heroic storylines in Avengers: Endgame and I’m happy to announce the first hero of this series is Bruce Banner/Professor Hulk. A Six-Year Poster Evolution: Bruce Banner/The Hulk

From The Avengers to Avengers: Endgame Bruce Banner has had many internal problems with his monstrous alter-ego, The Hulk. In The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron he was struggling with being perceived as a hero instead of simply a destructive freak. In Avengers: Infinity War and now Avengers: Endgame he’s struggling to return to being The Hulk, which seems kind of hilarious considering how long he wanted to stay away from being his alter-ego.

These posters throughout the Avengers films are kind of a story in itself as it shows the evolution of the character. So, on that note, here are the posters.

The Avengers

There were actually two character posters for Bruce Banner/The Hulk but I found this one to be far cooler. I love that it highlights Bruce Banner in his regular form as the scientist and as his superhero alter-ego, The Hulk. I mean, I love it. The partially green face, the green eyes, it’s all really cool looking.

This poster highlights his internal struggle with being Bruce Banner and controlling the green man within.

The Evolution of The Hulk

The Hulk is one of the most well-known Marvel heroes and the MCU took this character into some wild, bold, and very memorable directions throughout the four movies that he’s been in so far and so now I’m going to look at that evolution as we speed towards the debut of Avengers: Infinity War. Enjoy!

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

The Incredible Hulk is one of the worst movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, it’s nearly the opposite of 2008’s Iron Man. Where Iron Man succeeded The Incredible Hulk failed miserably and thankfully Marvel didn’t continue in that direction or they might not have made it a few more years. Edward Norton wasn’t a great Bruce Banner. He just…didn’t convince me. And the movie’s story was just horrible. I’m glad he’s changed since then.

The Avengers (2012)

When The Hulk returned in The Avengers Mark Ruffalo was now the actor playing the character and he did SUCH a better job. He convinced me that he was a scientist who lived continuously on the edge as he tried to prevent himself from turning into The Hulk and he did a great job. When he needed to be heroic he was heroic, when he was sadistic he was sadistic, and The Hulk really excited me in this movie.
