Christopher Nolan is a heck of a movie maker, a fact validated after I recently watched two more of his films, TENET and Memento. TENET would be quite the occasion for several reasons but one such reason was that it would be the first Nolan film to feature a black man as his lead character and it was a refreshing change of pace.
But the refreshing thing about it wasn’t the fact that this movie had a black lead. It was refreshing feeling how normal it felt, how the movie’s script never made it a point to call out that this story had a black lead other than a subtle quip at some point in the movie.

I didn’t know anything about Charlize Theron until Mad Max: Fury Road, in which case she became one of my favorite actresses in Hollywood. Her toughness oozed off of the screen and suddenly I wanted to see more movies with her. Today I wanted to highlight her for this week’s A Movie Ranking. Enjoy!
As a kid, I wasn’t a fan of Astroboy. Even now, I see this poster and can’t help feeling annoyed.
3. The Fate of the Furious
Charlize Theron was a surprisingly great villain for this movie. At first, I thought she was going to be wack but I enjoyed her role in the film. I can’t wait to see what happens in Furious 9.
Hancock is one of those films that you don’t expect to be good but turns out to be great. I was so surprised by this movie which continuously surprised me and Charlize Theron’s role alongside Will Smith was perfect. I’ve only seen the film once but I did like it very much when I watched it.
1. Mad Max: Fury Road
This isn’t surprising. Charlize Theron killed it as Furiosa in this film, portraying the fierce heroine that you expect and want to see in an action movie.
These are the only movies I’ve seen starring Charlize Theron but I hope to see more movies of hers in the future. And I would especially love it if she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the years to come. That would be awesome.
Fast and Furious 9 is coming to a theater near you every soon. Here’s the the nearly four-minute-long trailer to help get you pumped for the next step in the saga.
No, this isn’t the greatest trailer I’ve ever seen but it foreshadows another dumbly fun film to watch on the cusp of summer filled with explosions, action, and cool music to help amp up the already adrenaline-packed experience.
And if you’re a fan of the franchise that ending will probably have you pretty excited. Continue reading The ‘Fast and Furious 9’ Trailer Has Arrived
Ahead of the highly-anticipated Fast and Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham (which is set to come out August 2) here’s a look back at my review of the first Fast and Furious film that I actually legitimately like. Enjoy!
First of all, I am not a Fast and the Furious fan, not in the slightest. The only one I have ever remotely seen to a certain extent was Furious 7 on HBO and I didn’t like it at all. The action was cheesy, the story was awfully cliche, I mean, I could literally figure out what was going to happen before it happened. So, in the middle of the night in 2017, I happened to be bored and hungry for a new movie. So my dad and I decided to watch The Fate of the Furious simply because we had heard a lot of great things about it and I wanted to see if it was as good as people said it was.
So, through the first thirty minutes or so I was watching the movie thinking that Furious 8 was like every other Furious film and would eventually get really stale and cheesy. And then, as the movie kept progressing it started getting better and better and better until I couldn’t tear my eyeballs from the screen, that’s how surprisingly good it was.
