Why Do People Hate ‘Scoob’?

Scoob came out last year to dismal reviews and I was a bit bummed. As someone who has watched a bunch of Scooby-Doo movies over my lifetime I love sitting back and watching the latest installment in a franchise that never seems to get old.

So yesterday I watched Scoob and I was surprised. Its got a dismal 47% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.7 out of 10 stars on IMDb and yet I have found the film to be perfectly fine. Maybe it’s the pop culture references that threw people off but it’s like any other Scooby-Doo movie…with maybe a bit of a cheesier storyline than usual but ultimately it’s still pretty good.

Maybe people didn’t like that they decided to clash superheroes with the classic Scooby-Doo theme but I know if I was a child I would enjoy this movie.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘Toy Story 4’

With Toy Story 4 becoming available to watch on Disney Plus I figured it’d be best to revisit my review of the film. Enjoy!

If you’ve checked to see what Toy Story 4‘s rating among critics has been and glimpsed the 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes or the 7.9 out of 10 scores on IMDb let me assure you, it deserves those ratings.

Toy Story 3 was supposedly the end of the franchise that had started in 1995 and it was a great story as it transitioned little Andy from childhood to adulthood and the imminent but bittersweet breakup between Andy and his favorite toys. It was a tear-inducing “finale” that ended up not only winning Best Animated Film but was only the second animated movie to also be nominated for Best Picture.

It was perfectly written, it told a concise story, and it left people happy. No one was clamoring for a sequel like we wished for a sequel to The Incredibles but we were given one anyway and it was worth the wait. Continue reading Movie Review Flashback: ‘Toy Story 4’

‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Is Fun!

Well, I just saw The Sorcerer’s Apprentice yesterday with my sister for the first time and I have to say, we both approve. Yeah, it was a bit cornballs at the end but overall it was a joyous experience that had me beaming, laughing, and riveted until the end in a similar fashion to my experiences watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Besides Harry Potter, I feel like this was the first children’s movie to handle magic in a similarly fascinating light. The idea of the magic spells and the way they were utilized in the film was actually really fun and left me wide-eyed in amazement.

I loved Nicolas Cage in this movie. I haven’t watched a lot of movies with him…actually I’ve only really seen two; Face Off and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but he was really cool in this film. I mean, a rock-and-roll Merlin-like master? The concept could’ve been ridiculous but he pulled it off.

Now, since he is a part of Disney, can he appear in a Marvel movie please? That would be awesome!

This was another one of those stories that I’ve been hearing about since I was a kid and I’m glad to see that the film was actually quite fun.

I’ll give it 4 out of 5 stars and 89 out of 100. It was almost really good but the second half slightly lost steam and got predictable.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

‘Onward’ Is a Boring Disney/Pixar Movie

When I saw the first teaser for this movie I wasn’t that intrigued. Turns out, after watching the film on Disney+ yesterday, my intuition was correct.

Onward is hands down the worst Disney/Pixar movie I’ve seen. No doubt about it. The story, while set in an imaginative world that depicts magical creatures like elves and pixies in modern society, is as bland and predictable as they come.

Following the tale of two brothers and their “quest” to restore the second half of their materialized father (quick rundown; their father is dead and on the youngest brother’s birthday they are given a staff and a spell to bring their father back to life for one day) the plot is designed to inspire people to love one another and to try and hopefully influence a few tears.

The message was sweet but the movie was real droll. I’m talking about an almost-going-to-sleep-because-the-movie-is-so-boring type of droll.

I wish I could say Onward exceeded my wildest expectations. It did not.

I’m giving this 3 out of 5 stars and a solid 85 out of 100.

Movie Review Flashback: My Review of ‘Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors’

In case you’ve got Disney+, here’s an old review of the animated Marvel film, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. Enjoy!

I’ve just recently gotten interested into Marvel’s animated cartoons and so I decided to watch Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. I thought it was a tv show but it actually was a tv movie and for the most part I enjoyed it. Continue reading Movie Review Flashback: My Review of ‘Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors’

‘Frozen II’ Arrives Early On Disney+

If you have Disney+ and have been eagerly awaiting the addition of Frozen II to the streaming service wait no longer. Frozen II has come early to the streaming service, meaning you can soak in all of the film’s new songs and lovable moments. I can’t wait to see it and write my review. I’m intrigued to discover the movie’s more mature and darker themes, as the critics and casual viewers expressed.

With this taking place, is there a chance Avengers: Infinity War and The Rise of Skywalker could arrive at earlier dates on Disney+? I sure hope so.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
