You’d Be Surprised What My Favorite Thing From DC Comics Is

I’ll let you know, I’m not a DC Comics fan. I’ve watched most DC Comics movies and I do know a lot of the major characters but I’m not nearly as invested as I am with Marvel.

I think it’s safe to say that the Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the greatest trilogies of all time and is a pinnacle of DC Comics excellence but actually, the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy isn’t my favorite piece of entertainment from DC Comics. It’s actually something far different. And that is…

Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network.

Review: In 'Teen Titans Go! To the Movies,' It Takes a Superhero to Spoof One - The New York Times

As a child I remembered watching the serious action cartoon Teen Titans and enjoying it but when the characters returned in 2013, albeit under a new goofy format, it was brilliant.

The cartoon has had literally over 300 episodes and counting, some of which have become go-to references in our household. The five superheroes are displayed in a light that is so heartwarming and hilarious that every time I have ever watched it it is has managed to make me laugh.

And even when the teen hero group got their own movie, Teen Titans Go! to the Movies it ended up receiving a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, proving once again that the Cartoon Network phenomenon is absolutely fantastic.

Yes, Teen Titans Go! is very, very goofy and quite ridiculous but if I had a choice between watching The Dark Knight Trilogy and Teen Titans Go! I would pick Teen Titans Go! every time.

I love this cartoon.

What’s a cartoon that brings you joy every time you watch it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

Throwback Friday: ‘Justice League’ After a Second Viewing

In the light of knowing that we will be getting to the Snyder Cut next year, I’m revisiting this review of Justice League after watching it for only the second time a few months ago. Enjoy!

I haven’t seen Justice League since I went to watch it in IMAX in November of 2017 but after Aquaman, I have obtained an almost troubling desire to watch this movie again. For weeks I have waited to see it and finally, last night, I got to watch it.

My review of Justice League last time wasn’t a scathing review of a terrible film but rather a delighted account that highlighted the film’s strengths rather than its weakness. However, after seeing how incredible Aquaman was and then watching Justice League it definitely was a bit jarring to see the striking difference between the two films. Simply Aquaman is great, Justice League is not.

I found myself slightly cringing whenever Bruce Wayne was on the screen because he looked terribly wooden and slightly if I’m being honest, bloated.

Who’s Your Favorite Justice League Character?

Another fun week has passed and for those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, it has been quite the holiday week as well. And now it’s time for another fun segment of Who’s Your Favorite? For the last two weeks I have been asking you who your favorite Marvel hero or villain was but this week I’m changing superhero franchises and heading to DC Comics. And as you can see from this post’s title, it’s all about the Justice League. So, with no further delay, let me present to you the Justice League.

Flash

After surviving being struck by lightning Barry Allen obtained superhuman abilities that made him the fastest human being on Earth. This power would become a key aspect in serving the Justice League, as his electric abilities helped bring Superman back to life and that would ultimately be the one thing that would defeat Steppenwolf.

Throwback Friday: My Review of ‘Justice League’

Last November was a fun month for superhero movie lovers when Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League came out. While I own Thor: Ragnarok now and love watching every moment of it I never felt the urge to buy Justice League. In fact, I haven’t watched it since I saw it in the movie theaters. But after revisiting my review of the film I kind of want to watch it now. So, because I loved re-reading this review so much I decided to make it the topic of this week’s Throwback Friday. I hope you enjoy!

I heard the critics and all of their opinions on Justice League. They said it wasn’t a movie worth watching, that it was a huge step backward from Wonder Woman, and I believed them, that’s why it took me until yesterday to see it. And now that I’ve seen it I’m so glad I did. I have to admit, I enjoyed Justice League immensely. I watched the entire film, credits and all, thinking at any point that the movie was going to turn south and I was going to regret ever coming to see this superhero flick but it never happened! The story was simple yet cohesive, the characters were great, and yes there were flaws but overall I had a great time watching this movie. So, on that note, I’m going to tell you all of the things I did and didn’t like about this film. Enjoy!

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t seen Justice League yet and you would rather stay in the dark about the movie’s premise and outcomes I would advise you to discontinue reading this now. Okay, I thank you for acknowledging this warning. Now to the review.

Ranking the Justice League Characters: From Worst to Best

When Justice League came out last November I went to go watch it and overall it was a decent film but it was clearly trumped by Thor: Ragnarok‘s booming success and enjoyable quality. Since then I’ve barely talked about the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) because there’s nothing to really write about but it’s almost time for news from Aquaman to start seeping forth from the creators behind the superhero franchise and so I figure I might as well bring the DCEU back into the fold. So today I’m going to share with you my ranking of the Justice League. Enjoy!

6. Aquaman

Jason Momoa’s darker haired, rock-and-roll version of Aquaman is a MUCH cooler rendition of the iconic DC Comics character than the previous blond haired, blue eyed Aquaman that I’m used to but he still fell short of the cool trophy he could’ve obtained simply because he wasn’t utilized into the movie properly. While the other new characters were given at least a bit of sensible backstory I’m still confused at who he’s supposed to be. It felt like the writers threw him into the movie figuring that most people who would watch the film would already know who Aquaman is and what his origin story was so they didn’t even bother to go into detail about his past. And so for people like me who don’t know anything about Aquaman I truly felt like I was left out at sea with the knowledge of his character. He has most of the ingredients to become a really awesome superhero but he desperately needs some better storytelling behind him.

5. The Flash

I liked The Flash way more than I thought I would especially since I’ve never been a fan of the speedy character. The only thing I didn’t like about him was that the writers made him out to be too much like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU except the DCEU version. That isn’t cool and it’s one of the reasons why the DCEU constantly gets pounded by its superhero rival. Now I did like some of the humorous aspects he brought to the film but after a while, his humor became expected and not that funny anymore.
