‘The Suicide squad’ Has Left Me Baffled

I knew it. I knew since the first teaser that The Suicide Squad was going to be a bad movie and sure enough, my gut proved to be right.

James Gunn is looking like a one-hit wonder at this point because his last two movies have just not done it for me. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could’ve easily been better than the first one but its chaotic storytelling, excessive hollering, and attempt at a heartfelt moment with Yondu even though they didn’t share much screentime together in the actual film just left me feeling deflated. And The Suicide Squad suffers because it’s boring!

Our First Look At the New Suits for ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’ Is Here!

Shazam! was the surprise that I wasn’t expecting in 2019. I saw the trailers, I watched the tv spots, but I didn’t think the movie was going to be that good. Then I saw its shocking 90% Rotten Tomatoes score (I think it was 92% at the time) and my family and I went to go see it in IMAX. Suffice it to say, we loved it!

And the plot twist of all the kids becoming Shazam heroes was a surprise I wasn’t expecting. We all clapped with glee in response.

Since then, I’ve watched the movie several times. In fact, I was watching Shazam! last night on TBS. It’s such a fun movie with such a lovable cast and storyline. Unsurprisingly, besides The Batman, it’s the DC Comics movie I’m most excited for and right now they’re filming.

Because the director, David F. Sandberg, understands that there will be photos of the film leaking online he went ahead and shared our first look at the new suits for our Shazam family. Here they are.

Yep, that’s an upgrade ladies and gentlemen! And in case you don’t see the difference…

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Is Better Than I Remembered

Wonder Woman 1984 is once again available to watch on HBO Max and so I decided to watch it because what the heck. It’s a Wonder Woman movie and I was in the mood for a superhero movie.

I watched the film totally expecting to hate it again like last time but I actually kind of enjoyed my experience. Knowing the story and which icky parts to skip gave me the chance to understand what Patty Jenkins was going for and while the film isn’t perfect I did find it somewhat enjoyable.

The thing about Wonder Woman 1984 and why it performed so poorly among casual viewers was because it did not live up to expectations. Most superhero sequels tend to get bigger and flashier than their predecessors. Take The Dark Knight which features both the Joker and Two-Face, two extremely well-written antagonists that give Batman a challenge he didn’t get in the first film. And Marvel has pretty much perfected the superhero sequel.

‘The Suicide Squad’ Trailer Has Left Me Underwhelmed

James Gunn is making his own version of The Suicide Squad coming out this August and while we kind of revere him because of his work on Guardians of the Galaxy it seems that movie may have been a bit of a one-hit wonder.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn’t nearly as good as the first movie because it features way too much hollering and too many dumb jokes that don’t really land that well. Now, he’s just released the trailer for The Suicide Squad and it just…didn’t make me happy. Take a look.

I understand that the whole idea of the Suicide Squad is wackiness and insanity but this just feels…a bit much. The jokes weren’t funny, just crude and gross. The characters don’t look that likable, if I’m being honest. And I just wasn’t impressed. The only positive thing I have to say about the trailer is that it didn’t show too much.

I think the only thing that’s making me want to see this movie is Harley Quinn who I think is such a fun character, and maybe the Polka-Dot Man, but besides that it’s pretty meh.

What did you think about the trailer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

Michael Keaton Is the New Batman?

Yes, you read the title of this post correctly. Michael Keaton has apparently been cast as Batman in not only the upcoming DCEU movie, The Flash, but also a saga of his own separate from Robert Pattinson’s gritty take on the dark knight.

This is both shocking and wonderful at once. I have always been one to believe that Keaton is the best Batman because he was the one to create that classic bad***ery that has made Batman such a staple in pop culture today on the big screen.

Before him, there was no template for a broody, more serious depiction of Batman who kicks butt and gets the ladies. And considering the fact that Michael Keaton practically still looks the same and is still very current in movies the idea of him returning as an older Batman is honestly one of the best ideas the DCEU could make at the moment.

Now, considering the DCEU’s shaky record for delivering legitimately good movies, will these films actually be good? Geez, I hope so. But for now, I simply can’t wait to see the original Batman don his suit again. It’s going to be epic!
