I Finished ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ The Other Day…But Why Was It So Hard?

I’ve been trying to finish Solo: A Star Wars Story for over a year now. Here’s the drill.

The first step to watching Solo is experiencing extreme boredom. Once I am extremely bored I always manifest the idea: “I’m going to watch Solo today.” There are usually three places I end up stopping; after the train heist (which is the best part of the movie), when they reach Kessel, or during the Kessel Run. If I make it past the Kessel Run sequence I’ll finish the movie.

When I watched Solo for the first time in theaters three years ago I was pleasantly surprised. The movie was actually pretty entertaining. But after subsequent viewings I began to dislike the movie more and more.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not bad. In fact, it’s a solid Star Wars movie. But there is one common denominator that makes it a challenge to finish (and enjoy) this movie…and that is Alden Ehrenreich.

Movie Review Flashback: My Review of ‘The Lion King’

The reboot of The Lion King was one of the highest-grossing films last year, making just north of $1.6 billion but was met with mixed reviews. While the visuals were praised immensely the main consensus was that The Lion King was a tired rehash of the previous film. As I watched the movie last night for the first time on Disney+ I was excited.

After my recent viewing of Aladdin which turned out to be quite the treat, I was expecting the same level of joy from The Lion King. And I was having a great time…until I wasn’t.

The first half wowed me, leaving me staring at the screen stricken with awe. Yes, it was very repetitive of the original film but guess what, The Lion King is perfect. No reason to try to get fancy and change something that is so fantastic. It was the second half of the film that left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. An Update Worthy for ‘The Lion King’

When a really good movie that I’m legitimately excited for comes out I always like to share updates with you about the movie, like the new trailers, exciting photos, and posters. With The Lion King, I’ve been a little slack on the updates, if I’m being honest, so now I’m giving you the motherload of updates.

(Just to let you know, there’s going to be a LOT of posters. 😁)

The Character Posters

Hello Zazu!

Rafiki isn’t a character seen throughout The Lion King but his scenes are very impactful. You want to talk about chill bumps? I get so many chill bumps whenever he’s on the screen, specifically when he’s helping Simba remember who he was as the future king. Continue reading An Update Worthy for ‘The Lion King’

Qi’Ra or Lando: Who Should Have Their Own ‘Star Wars’ Story?

In the past week rumors have been circulating that Lucasfilm is putting a halt to the Star Wars stories and thankfully those wild rumors have been laid to rest, allowing me to continue to brainstorm about the characters in Star Wars who should have their own standalone films in the future. Solo definitely hinted at the possibility of a sequel but there also could be plenty of spin-offs stemming from the movie’s characters as it introduced us to characters who not only played impeccable roles in the film but also were surprisingly interesting at the same time. One of those brand new faces was Qi’Ra, a mysterious femme fatale with a dark secret. And then one of the more familiar faces belonged to Lando who became an instant fan favorite after Donald Glover’s suave rendition of the character. Between these two characters who brought such enjoyment to the film which should end up getting their own Star Wars story? That’s what I’m here to share with you. Enjoy!
