C-3PO has been a constant presence throughout the Star Wars movies and with The Rise of Skywalker bringing the Skywalker Saga to an end it seems that J.J Abrams is going to give C-3PO more to do this time around other than just running around getting on the heroes’ nerves and spewing doom and gloom as he embarks on this incredible adventure.

The Last Jedi alienated a lot of diehard Star Wars fans by ending long held traditions, outright obliterating ideas presented through The Force Awakens, and taking classic characters and startlingly changing their narrative to the point of legitimate anger from some Star Wars viewers. (I, for one, am perfectly fine with all of the tweaks to the Star Wars narrative that Rian Johnson made.) Solo has continued that trend of breaking old traditions as it has become the second Star Wars movie to flip the iconic “I have a bad feeling about this” line in a different fashion. In The Last Jedi BB-8 beeped the infamous line to Poe at the beginning of the film and this time around Han Solo says “I’ve got a good feeling about this” as he gets ready to make the infamous Kessel Run. But that isn’t the only tradition that has gone up in flames.
C-3PO and R2-D2, up to this point, have appeared in every single Star Wars movie so it seemed pretty evident that they would have some sort of brilliant cameo somewhere in this latest Star Wars flick. Well, they actually didn’t and I couldn’t be happier.
Solo was a fast paced movie with an adventure that transpired through worlds far away from the likes of the burgeoning Rebellion. How could C-3PO and R2 have possibly made an appearance without them feeling unnaturally forced into the movie in some sort of goofy way? Having them make a surprise cameo in the film would not have worked in the slightest and I’m glad to see that Star Wars isn’t trying to appease fans with traditions like that to the point of ridiculousness. And besides, we’re undoubtedly going to see the two classic droids in Episode IX so it doesn’t matter if they happened to miss one out of ten Star Wars films.
How do you feel about the lack of C-3PO and R2-D2 in Solo: A Star Wars Story? Feel free to provide your opinion in the comments below. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day. May the force be with you.
BB-8 is one of the coolest, and definitely, the cutest droids to be created in Star Wars. I wasn’t a fan of BB-8 to begin with like I wasn’t a fan of the Porgs but after watching The Force Awakens for the first time every time I see a BB-8 now a bright smile comes to my face. When The Last Jedi came out I was super excited to see more from the awesome astromech droid and Rian Johnson definitely delivered some more sides to the orange and white roly-poly than we had seen before but did I like him more in The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi? Well, let’s find out shall we.
The Force Awakens
In The Force Awakens BB-8 was cute, cute, and did I mention he was cute? Unlike R2-D2 he was never rude and really seemed to be the equivalent of a puppy droid. His first interactions with Rey on Jakku are enough to make you ooh and ahh. When he gets feisty against Finn you can’t help but smile and laugh. And throughout the rest of the film he’s just this lovable droid that I wish was real because I would have a BB-8 asap. In fact, one day I’m definitely getting one of those remote control BB-8’s because he’s just that darn cute. So that leads me to his involvement in his next film.

One of the exciting things about these Star Wars stories is there is always a new droid the world will be introduced to. Rogue One provided us a fascinating new droid in K-2SO who was basically the anti-C-3PO. And now Solo is bringing us the first major female droid in L3-37 and I can honestly say, she’s already one of my favorite characters.
There’s something so perfect and self-reliant about her. She’s created her body through the parts of other droids, she’s very much Lando’s equal rather than being a servant to him, and she has quite the attitude. I love her. 🙂
I also love that she’s another tough, almost humanoid like droid like K-2SO was. That has become the new trend for the latest batch of droids and I’m totally down with it.
The marketing for Solo has highlighted her every once in a while but she’s also been kept out of the spotlight as well and that’s always a great thing going into a movie. I want to be able to watch the film and feel like I already know all of the twists and turns the movie is going to show me. That means I’ll be able to enjoy this brand new character to the fullest once I’m sitting in that theater and that is super exciting.
All in all, I have a huge feeling that after this movie L3-37 will be my new favorite droid (because she’s awesome) and I can’t wait to see her in action.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will be coming out in nearly three months and after an exciting article from Entertainment Weekly last week featuring the movie my knowledge of these new, and old, characters has been broadened. So, today I’m going to share with you the character’s stories I’m most interested in seeing in Solo. Enjoy!
In the Entertainment Weekly article I discovered what this character’s name is as well as her involvement in the film. She’s an accomplice of Beckett’s and that makes her super interesting. I know for a fact just from briefly seeing her in the trailer that she’s totally shady. She looks like she’ll backstab you so fast. Awesome! In Star Wars we’ve never fully been introduced to the criminal underworld and the shady inhabitants of its enterprise and, like Rogue One, it’s going to be fascinating seeing another side of Star Wars that hasn’t been shown before.
When I heard that Woody Harrelson had been cast in the movie as Han’s mentor I already knew he was going to play a crooked character and after seeing him in the teaser he practically screams swindler. I don’t exactly know, of course, how he’s going to betray Han but I have a deep feeling in my gut that he is at some point in the movie. In my last post about Solo I wrote about how exciting it was not seeing who the villain of the film was but maybe I did. Maybe Beckett is the villain. The cool thing is I only have a couple of weeks from three months before I find out the truth.

On starwars.com there is a databank that has nearly every character, alien, planet, etc. from Star Wars in it. Think of it as a virtual encyclopedia. Well throughout the months, new entries have been added to the databank from The Last Jedi and after the new trailer was released a whole bunch of new things were added and I’m here to share them with you. Enjoy!
So, these Resistance Bombers are cool because they drop proton bombs onto Star Destroyers, as long as they can get to them. That’s where the Starfighters come into play. They act as a defense against the First Order while the Resistance Bombers get into position. The new trailer has given a better look at the dogfight that’s going to happen above D’Qar and I can’t wait to see it in its full glory.
