QI’RA: Chapter Forty-Six

Nienye’s Sentence

Sitting in her room aboard Dryden Vos’s yacht, First Light, Qi’ra couldn’t believe T-38 was dead. She had taken the cyborg for granted and now that her voice was missing, that her presence was no longer felt aboard this yacht that she called home, she now realized how much he had grown to need T-38’s companionship.

Now, without her, there was a deep void. A void that Nienye had created. She couldn’t believe it. She trusted Nienye. She even had admitted to herself that she was in love with him. Only for him to stab her in the back and T-38 would end up becoming the consequence of this deception. Continue reading QI’RA: Chapter Forty-Six

Qi’ra hid behind a table as blaster fire filled the room momentarily. She was tempted to look and see if Han had killed Dryden but that question was answered as Dryden’s voice rang through the room.

“You know, we shouldn’t fight amongst ourselves,” Dryden said. “Beckett is the enemy so why don’t we go get him together.”

Qi’ra eyes widened. Dryden was very, very persuasive and his tone of voice sounded cordial enough. But she knew Dryden and she knew he was lying. She could only hope Han knew he was fibbing as well.

“That sounds great. You go to the elevator first.”

Qi’ra smiled. Continue reading If Only She Could Tell the Truth: Part 37

Qi’ra watched as Han began to inch his way toward the case of coaxium but Beckett caught him.

“Ah, ah, ah,” Tobias said, drawing his blaster. “Stay away from there.” He pointed the blaster at Chewbacca. “Chewie, paws up where I can see them.” He gestured at one of the two guards in the room. “Check that lid.”

The guard did as he commanded and soon found Han’s blaster attached to the lid. Beckett nodded in appreciation.

“Good thinking but not good enough,” Tobias said. Continue reading If Only She Could Tell the Truth: Part 36

Han chuckled. “It is the real thing,” he replied to Dryden’s subtle accusation that they hadn’t delivered him the actual coaxium.

Qi’ra allowed herself a tiny smile. Han was a good actor and that meant Dryden was falling for their plan with ease.

“Oh, yes it is such a good replica it truly does look like the real thing,” Dryden began, “but it seems through an associate of mine that you were going to bamboozle me and give Enfys Nest the real coaxium.” Continue reading If Only She Could Tell the Truth: Part 35

Dryden Vos stood from the couch, a strikingly tall figure who seemed to embody the power that he held. In his hands were their very lives and Qi’ra knew he loved every second of it. She couldn’t wait to see that power stripped from him.

He approached them with open arms, a dazzling smile on his charming face.

“And the crew returns!” he exclaimed happily. “Everyone was telling me that you were going to fail but I knew, I knew my top lieutenant would be able to see this mission through.”

And then he stopped, his expression growing confused. Continue reading If Only She Could Tell the Truth: Part 34

Qi’ra stepped before the entrance to Dryden’s yacht and took a deep breath. As the black door slid open she thought to herself, Here goes nothing.

She walked into the narrow entryway to the guard, a stoic friend of hers named Tohl, with a smile on her face. She needed to look as relaxed as possible even though her heart was racing a million miles an hour.

“No weapons,” Tohl grunted sternly.
