When Disney started making live-action remakes of some of their most popular animated films I was super excited about the idea. And at first, it seemed like a great idea but as the years have gone by and the films have come I’m beginning to think that maybe it wasn’t as good an idea as it sounded. The live-action remake of Cinderella turned out to be a mediocre film with 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.9 on Imdb. I tried to watch it about a year ago but when I saw Prince Charming (who was not charming at all by the way) I couldn’t go any further.
If you’re going to cast someone to play Prince Charming! he’s got to look a little bit better than this. Excuse me for my bluntness.
The Jungle Book was pretty good. I mean, I enjoyed it but I didn’t find it to be that incredible. The critics, however, say otherwise as they gave this movie a whopping 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time, it truly seemed like Disney was doing a good thing by remaking their most loved animated classics.

Disney has always contributed a huge chunk to the year’s box-office numbers but next year very well may be the company’s greatest year at the box-office, as some of its most-anticipated films are coming out next year. Of course, this year for Disney is nowhere close to over box-office wise with Ralph Breaks the Internet coming out next week and Mary Poppins Returns finishing out the year. But, as 2018 comes closer and closer to an end, let’s look at some of the Disney movies coming out next year that we can start getting excited for.
January and February may be devoid of any highly-anticipated Disney films but March will change that as it debuts one of the most looked forward to movies of next year; Captain Marvel. This film is exciting for several reasons. One; it’s the first female-led Marvel movie in the MCU. Two; it’s a movie focused on one of Marvel’s most prominent superheroes. And three; it’s the last piece of the puzzle that’s leading us to the events of Avengers 4. Who couldn’t be more excited?
Captain Marvel is set to be released for March 8, 2019.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the final Marvel movie of the year and after the booming success of Avengers: Infinity War I was honestly a little skeptical about how Ant-Man and the Wasp could possibly follow suit in the shadow of the mighty Thanos. Ant-Man came out after Avengers: Age of Ultron three years ago and it didn’t do so well (well, that Marvel year wasn’t that great period.) Would its sequel break free of its meager quality? Um…yeah it did. I’ve finally seen the movie and it is 100% AWESOME, and that’s coming from someone who barely liked Ant-Man at all.
Ant-Man and the Wasp was such an amazing experience for me and once again confirmed my love for Marvel. I mean, I love Star Wars but Marvel has continuously released films that I can expect to be ridiculously enjoyable time and time again. When I go to watch a Star Wars movie I don’t know exactly what to expect. Will it be good? Will it be disappointing? With Marvel I know I don’t have to worry about that. Since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (which was the last mediocre Marvel movie) there have been five straight fantastic Marvel films. That’s incredible! When have you ever heard of five straight wins in a movie franchise? Well…maybe the Harry Potter series but besides that it’s next to impossible to make that many good movies in a row?
