My Ten Favorite ‘Star Wars’ Characters: Updated

I haven’t done this in a while because I actually haven’t cared to. I want to make a top ten Marvel heroes list but there are so many shows and movies these days it’s constantly changing (I’ll probably still write one next anyway.)

Star Wars on the other hand is a lot easier to decipher when it comes to ranking my favorite characters because there aren’t as many that I truly love. I think the last time I shared a ranking it was before The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian had come out so…this should be interesting. Enjoy!

10. Rey

There was a time when Rey was my favorite Star Wars character hands down but thanks to Abrams and Johnson’s clashing visions of the character she was dumbed down into a chosen-one type of hero with no clear inclinations as to why.

I liked Rey as a nobody, then she became a somebody, and now she’s a Skywalker. It’s draining. Plus, I love Daisy Ridley but it seemed like she was trying just a bit too hard to convey all of this emotion in Rey for the finale and ultimately just came across as a kind of annoying emotional wreck.

The only reason why I still have Rey in my top ten is because if they announced a Rey Disney+ series right now I would lose my mind so I definitely still harbor some love for the character.

9. Kylo Ren (Pre-The Rise of Skywalker)

And who surpassed Rey as my favorite character for quite a long while? Kylo Ren. It was The Last Jedi that did it as Rian Johnson fleshed out his character by making him a victim of Luke’s failure rather than just a crazed baddie. I loved the character development and was super into Kylo Ren’s story and his potential to return to being Ben Solo.

Then The Rise of Skywalker happened and suddenly he was no longer cool, he was no longer interesting, and he literally got no lines to speak as Ben Solo except for, “Ow.” What type of mess is that?

I remember leaving the movie theater after having watched The Rise of Skywalker the first time asking myself, “What did they do to my boy, Kylo?” I was furious, and still am in fact.

So, while I did love Kylo Ren a whole heck of a lot before The Rise of Skywalker it’s his story in the finale that ruined his character for me. It is only because of his role pre-The Rise of Skywalker that he’s on this list.

I’m So Close to Finishing My ‘Star Wars’ Rebels Marathon

Ever since The Mandalorian in mid-December I have been on a Star Wars television marathon consisting of The Clone Wars to Star Wars: Rebels and which will conclude with rewatching the first two seasons of The Mandalorian again.

The idea was sprung as simply a fun task to distract me from my near month-long wait for WandaVision but became something that was exciting and rewarding all at once.

Now, over two months into this mission, I have finally reached the finish line of Star Wars: Rebels. Yesterday, I cried like a baby through Jedi Night and was super inspired for the Ahsoka series thanks to the fascinating episode, World Between Worlds. Today marks the end of this journey as I watch the last two episodes of what is undoubtedly my favorite Star Wars show.

I have always heard of the love for characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia, but it is the Ghost crew who are my favorite core group in Star Wars. Their family dynamic is something you don’t really get in the franchise and each character is lovable in a different way.

To know that we’re finally getting that long-awaited Rebels sequel in Ahsoka is just mind-boggling and I can’t wait! And yeah, Rebels has provided me two of my top 3 favorite Jedi in Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus. I love them so much!

All in all, I’m excited to finally get to the end of this Rebels marathon and get on to The Mandalorian.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. May the Force be with you.

Who’s Going To Save Grogu?!

Watching Revenge of the Sith this past weekend reminded me of the startling realization of a single line that Ahsoka Tano says to Mando when speaking about the chance a Jedi can teach Baby Grogu in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian: “Then again, there aren’t many Jedi left.”

Yes, there are barely any Jedi that exist (even less so in 1983 when a dying Yoda told Luke Skywalker, “When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be.”) but there are a chosen few that, thanks to Disney, could answer Grogu’s call and save him from a dismal fate. The question is, who could that be? The first obvious answer is Ahsoka.

A Cool Concept: Bo-Katan and Ezra Bridger

As fans of pop culture, my sister and I are always on top of the latest Marvel and Star Wars news and sometimes we like to conceptualize certain actors as certain characters or versions of our favorite characters that we’d like to see in the future. Such as Captain America with a beard. I had been waiting for the moment when our perfectly-shaven Cap would finally head into the rugged department with a beard and sure enough he finally got one in Avengers: Infinity War. I still remember seeing Cap with a beard for the first time in the teaser trailer. To say I was elated was an understatement.

So now, we’re taking our concepts to life in the form of my sister’s ever impressive art for this brand new series of mine, A Cool Concept.

Last week, there was news that Katee Sackhoff (the voice of Bo-Katan Kryze in both The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels) would play Bo-Katan in live-action for the second season of The Mandalorian. So, naturally, my sister had to paint an idea of what that could look like. Here it is. Continue reading A Cool Concept: Bo-Katan and Ezra Bridger

Fan Art Wednesday

The past week has been interesting. I’ve seen a whole bunch of new movies and my sister has created some dazzling art pieces that I have been eager to share. So, with no further delay, here they are.

Jedi Knights

Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker? Um…yes! This piece brought Ahsoka to life in a realistic way, showcasing her as the bad*** we all know she is. And my sister perfectly managed to capture Anakin in this piece as well. Plus, with the stark red background that dangles between the Light and the Dark, it’s very clear these two Jedi Knights are no saints. Continue reading Fan Art Wednesday

Ezra Bridger Appreciation

After watching Star Wars: Rebels my love for the characters in this series has been nothing short of almost obsessive. And Ezra Bridger is at the top of this list.

Ezra Bridger is a fantastic Jedi with a fantastic storyline and I am just in love with this character. And apparently, I’m not the only one. My sister has drawn an absolutely ravishing portrait of the character, imagining him in a realistic manner and I am super excited to share it with you. Here you go.

Isn’t this amazing?! Honestly, I can’t stop staring at it! Ezra Bridger is a character that I have grown more and more fascinated with the more I watch Star Wars: Rebels and this picture has only built upon my love for this character.

My sister has placed a bit of pixie dust magic on this portrait and because of that, I had to share it with you all.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day. May the Force be with you.
