I’ve been watching Star Wars since I was a child and just saw Halloween for the first time a few days ago. Darth Vader is one of the most iconic villains of all time and Michael Meyers is also an antagonist that whether you know the film or not you know who Michael Meyers is. But there is another similarity between these mask-wearing villains that is both disturbing and brilliant at the same time and that is their heavy breathing.
Darth Vader can be detected as soon as you hear that iconic breathing that makes him the character we know to this day. That breathing is what made him frightening and what also made him stand out amidst his antagonist brethren but it seems that he’s not the only character that can be recognized by the heavy breaths.
Throughout Halloween, a lot of times the director, John Carpenter, would mess with the viewer by having us only hear but not see Michael Meyers. Like in this scene for example. You can’t see Michael Meyer’s face but you can hear him breathing very heavily in an unnerving fashion. And it’s this way throughout the rest of the movie as well.

Halloween, a horror film classic. As a child, I was way too scared to watch it but as the years have gone by my fear of scary movies has begun to diminish. A few years ago I summoned up enough courage to watch The Shining which, as a young girl, would put me in a rather teary, petrified state if I so much as heard or saw the ghost twin girls. It was a mighty achievement for me and one that made me realize that maybe my horror film phobia had dissipated with age. So, since then I have been determined to watch Halloween. Well, last night my determination finally came to fruition. I watched Halloween! And while it was definitely scary and provided a few more jumps than I would’ve liked, now that I have seen the movie I can feel solace knowing that I can watch it at any time and not be so scared that I’m petrified for the entire night.

It’s Halloween and that means there was no way I wasn’t going to write a post acknowledging this frightening but fun holiday. And so to celebrate the festivities I am going to write a list of the five scariest movie villains. Enjoy and…BOO! Ha-ha!
I consider myself seriously lucky that I was introduced to Alien for the first time via the game, Mortal Combat because if I had gone into watching this film without knowing anything about this horrifying extraterrestrial I would’ve been messed up for weeks. For this to have come out in 1979 I am absolutely stunned at how scary this movie still is. Alien is definitely one of the most frightening creations in all of film.
