Who’s Your Favorite ‘Star Wars’ Dad?

Star Wars is heavily wrapped around the basis of family and it’s Father’s Day! So, I’m asking you my fellow Star Wars fans, who’s your favorite Star Wars father? Here is my list of the galactic dads of the franchise.

Galen Erso

Galen Erso

Galen Erso is one of the secret heroes in the Star Wars universe as he purposely sabotaged the Death Star to eventually get blown up. He risked his life creating the diabolical plan and had to sacrifice so much to get it done. While he isn’t on the poster of Rogue One he was easily one of the film’s biggest contributors.

Darth Vader

Darth Vader just might be one of the most iconic movie fathers of all time. He may have played the part of the villain for the majority of the original trilogy but through all of those wires and that cold exterior was a heart of gold that couldn’t be denied. He helped end the reign of the Empire as he killed Palpatine and even though he died he perished doing what was right and that is why he’s such a great character.

My Sister’s Opinion: The Sacrifice of Jedi

Star Wars is sophisticated. Sophisticated because it is an intricate story with seemingly labyrinthian plotlines interwoven to create this wonderful narrative. It is the reason there are so many different opinions and thought processes when it comes to the same thing we all watch.

And the reason after so many years watching it, you can discover new things whispered into the story. Lately, it has been the sacrifice of the Jedi that I have discovered is a crucial backbone to the overall plot of Star Wars and especially the soon-to-be-completed Skywalker Saga.

I begin this journey with Luke Skywalker. Continue reading My Sister’s Opinion: The Sacrifice of Jedi

All the Ways ‘Solo’ Has Impacted the Way I See ‘Star Wars’

After watching Solo: A Star Wars Story nearly my entire view surrounding Han Solo and Chewbacca’s stories has changed, as this standalone film has filled in gaps I didn’t even know I wanted to be answered and provided me tantalizing ideas for the future of Star Wars as well. So, with no further delay, let me relay to you all of the ways Solo has changed the way I look at these movies. Enjoy!

How Han Got His Name

hanandqiraride

Oh my goodness, undoubtedly one of the coolest moments in Solo for me was learning how Han got his iconic name, Han Solo. I always figured that the name was probably made up because the idea of someone having the name Solo didn’t exactly quantify as a legitimate last name to me. I thought that maybe Han called himself that after realizing that he didn’t have any friends, except for Chewbacca, but to learn that an Imperial recruiter provided him the title, Han Solo, is simply one of the coolest things that have ever happened in Star Wars. It was definitely much cooler than when Emperor Palpatine named Anakin “Darth Vader”. Continue reading All the Ways ‘Solo’ Has Impacted the Way I See ‘Star Wars’

What’s Your Favorite Scene in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’?

Solo: A Star Wars Story is a good Star Wars film with plenty of great moments. It’s a riveting adventure from beginning to end and truly captures the essence of what Star Wars films are all about. But what makes it such a fun installment to the franchise? The film’s various scenes of course. From beginning to end this movie deals out incredible moments that will bring a smile to any casual Star Wars movie watcher’s face. So, on this week’s segment of Who’s Your Favorite, I’m asking you what your favorite scene in Solo is? Here are the film’s most important moments.

The Speeder Chase on Corellia

The film doesn’t waste time getting to the action and the speeder chase that takes place as Han and Qi’ra strive to escape Corellia is beyond awesome. It features Han’s incredible piloting skills before he got his hands behind the controls of a ship complemented with an upbeat musical score that made the scene even more riveting.

‘Solo’ or ‘Rogue One’: Which Movie Is Your Favorite?

When Disney acquired the rights to LucasFilm they came equipped with many ideas. One of those ideas was the never-before-seen Star Wars stories; standalone films that focused on certain characters or important events in the galaxy. There have only been two of these standalone films so far and there may never be more after Solo‘s dismal box-office run, which is a shame because these movies are so enjoyable. Both are completely different and unique in their own way and that’s why they’re a part of this week’s Who’s Your Favorite? Enjoy!

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo follows Han’s journey in his young adult years as he learns the dangerous ways of a smuggler in the galaxy. He meets interesting people, learns valuable lessons, and gains a best friend who would always be there for him in Chewbacca.

We get to see Han’s first moments with the Millennium Falcon, his infamous Kessel Run, and how he won the Falcon from Lando Calrissian. But most importantly, we got to learn the reason why Han is such a hero as his heroism was on full display in this film.

We even got to see Darth Maul again! And that’s pretty awesome.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One is an entirely different movie than Solo. It follows the story of a group of unlikely heroes who, with their determination, create a plan to steal the Death Star plans from underneath the Empire’s noses. This plan turns into an all-out war between the Empire and the Rebellion, with Jyn Erso at the helm of this uprising.

This film contains some very exciting moments like the entire battle on and above Scarif, Darth Vader’s return, Grand Moff Tarkin’s presence, and even a fantastic cameo by Princess Leia.

Between these two films, my favorite is clearly Rogue One. Time and time again I watch Rogue One and it always manages to bring a smile to my face while I can barely watch Solo anymore. Of course, that’s just me. The question is; which movie is your favorite?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day. May the Force be with you.
