Seeing ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ in the Movie Theaters for the First Time

I’m a diehard Star Wars fan, as you already know. I have watched every movie at least five times and the first six films at least three hundred times combined (at least.) The Empire Strikes Back is considered the best of the Skywalker Saga and Star Wars stories and after seeing it in theaters for the first time yesterday I understand why.

The movie, once it gets rolling, is nonstop! I was blown away as I sat in my local theater taking in a film that, in 1980, was truly a masterpiece. Even now, after seeing so many movies, this film stands out as a marvel, a true achievement of movie making that has passed the test of time.

‘Regular Show’ Is One of My Favorite Cartoons of All Time

Cartoon Network is my happy place. It’s a world that I can escape to, filled with zany cartoons designed to make you laugh hysterically or to give you a great day. My day always gets better whenever I see Regular Show on the screen.

Regular Show takes a bunch of odd characters, places them in a park, and gives them a wild adventure every episode filled with plenty of humor. As a child, I loved the show and as an adult I still love it.

The cartoon is appropriate enough for children for it to be on Cartoon Network but is crafted with enough adult sensibilities that even adults can get thoroughly entertained. Spanning eight years and eight seasons I grew up with Regular Show. Its main characters, the blue jay Mordekai and the raccoon Rigby, were my friends. Its title, Regular Show, spawned hilarity, for there’s nothing regular about the cartoon. And one of my favorite actors of all time Mark Hamill voices one of the main characters on the show, a white gorilla named Skips. How can you get better than that?

If you’ve never seen Regular Show do yourself a favor. Find the first episode and give it a watch. You will not be disappointed. In fact, you’ll probably become a Regular Show fan like me.

Oooooooooh!!!! (Only those who know Regular Show will get why I just did that. 😉)

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

A New Ice Cream Experience

Ice cream. I love ice cream! I like to think of myself as an ice cream connoisseur. Chocolate is my favorite go-to flavor. Cookies and cream is my favorite guilty pleasure flavor of all time. Whenever I get the chance to have ice cream I take it and enjoy the delicious iced sweet, flavored cream that makes me smile every time I eat it (unless it’s Neopolitan ice cream which I will skip every time.)

So, yesterday, while taking a brief trip to Chapel Hill, NC, the home of the utterly beautiful University of North Carolina (which is the college I am TOTALLY going to when I finally take my step in that direction), I was walking down Franklin Street with my mother and sister and low and behold we ran into an intriguing ice cream place called Ice & Lab.

Entering the ice cream shop, I expected it to be like every other ice cream place I’d ever been to but it wasn’t long before I realized it was immediately a different sort of place. Being the ice cream fan that I am, I picked the flavor (King Kong Island–it’s vanilla ice cream with banana and oreos…yum) and the guy made it.

This wasn’t your average ice cream shop because the ice cream is rolled. It’s a new trend that’s popping up all over the country to offer people new and exciting experiences with one of America’s favorite summertime treats; ice cream. Originating from Southeast Asia, rolled ice cream has become a countrywide phenomenon and, wanting to eventually go to a rolled ice cream-serving place, finding Ice & Lab was SO exciting!

We were able to watch the man make the rolled ice cream (which was fascinating, I was so fascinated in fact that I forgot to take a video or pictures of the exciting feat) and then we were given the ice cream to enjoy. Continue reading A New Ice Cream Experience

Merry Christmas Everyone!

It’s December 25th and that means for millions of people around the world it’s Christmas! For a lot of young children, they’re waking up this morning brimming with excitement, rushing to tear open their presents and see if they’ve been naughty or nice this year according to the ever-present yet fictional Santa Claus. I’m waking up this morning feeling beyond excited to go to the movie theaters and watch the two films that I have been dying to see; Bumblebee and Aquaman.

This day also represents for those who are Christian the birth of Jesus which is easily one of the most important occurrences that ever happened in the world.

And this day also focuses on our chance to truly appreciate our loved ones. So, if you’re reading this, I challenge you to forget your family squabbles or disagreements for this day. Enjoy the people around you, give them a hug (if you’d like) and cherish these moments that you get to spend with your loved ones in your vicinity, even if it’s only your dog.

Special days like Christmas don’t come often and so, while they’re here, it’s a chance to make the best of it and forge a day that’ll live in your memory for many, many years. Because sometimes the greatest present is that everlasting memory. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays.)
