‘Avengers: Endgame’: A Hero’s Redemption Part 4

Nebula has had one of the most complex stories in the MCU. She began as your common villain, killing good guys and fighting the heroes. The good streak that came equipped with Gamora was seemingly nonexistent in Nebula but Marvel had a plan for her. Instead of killing her off, as one might expect, she was allowed to survive another day. It was in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where her heroic side finally started to blossom, leading to what would be a very redemptive story in Avengers: Endgame.

Having Fun for the First Time

You’re probably looking at this picture and saying to yourself, “What? Is that Nebula smiling?” Yes…it is. At the beginning of Endgame while Tony Stark and Nebula are stranded aboard Star-Lord’s ship they play a game. For nearly all of Nebula’s life, she has been trained to be a killing machine. The competition between her and her sister Gamora was never pleasant. They were always at each other’s throats, each daughter trying to prove dominion over the other, and as Nebula constantly lost their sparring matches Thanos would replace another part of her with something to augment her abilities.

Nebula didn’t know what fun was until this very moment with Tony Stark. For a second, she almost seems like a normal human being whose every instinct hasn’t been crafted to kill. It’s actually a really touching moment and the first step of her redemption story.

A Movie Ranking: Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan is an actress who has managed to make me smile over the years. She turned out to be one of the coolest women in the MCU as the cybernetic assassin, Nebula. And then she manages to make me laugh in her role as Martha in JumanjiI thought it would be fun to highlight her today. Enjoy!

6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol. 2 MOVIE POSTER ORIGINAL Mini Sheet ...

While this is my least favorite installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise it is the film that gave converted Nebula to the hero side of things so…that’s nice.

5. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

In the Marvel movies, Karen Gillan is painted all of these different shades of blue and she speaks in this rich, metallic voice that makes you feel like she’s one part shady one part mysterious one part awesome. And then she completely transforms in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, embodying the personality of an insecure teenager within the body of a confident hot female game character. It’s pretty cool and a nice twist for Karen.

4. Jumanji: The Next Level

While both of these Jumanji films are practically identical in likability I just happen to prefer this one because it really does take things to the next level. I can’t wait to see the third one (because there is going to be the third one if the post-credit scene was anything to judge by.)

3. Guardians of the Galaxy

Ever since the first time I saw Nebula I knew she was a really cool character. I was very relieved when she wasn’t killed off in this film, for I felt like she was a character whose story had plenty of chance to grow. And she did.

2. Avengers: Endgame

I was really hoping Nebula would get her chance to face Thanos in this film. She didn’t but that didn’t matter. We still got to see her interact with The Avengers as an ally whether than an enemy. Her interactions with War Machine were the most intriguing, considering that he was one of the few characters that she seemed to legitimately bond with due to both of them having to use technology to function properly. I wonder if we can see their relationship grow over the years.

1. Avengers: Infinity War

Amazon.com: The Avengers: Infinity War Movie POSTER (2018) Sci-fi ...

This is the best Avengers movie and no one can tell me otherwise. It’s action scenes are all phenomenal. The character interactions are stellar. Every hero is treated in a way where you don’t feel like the writers missed any opportunities. And by the conclusion, it is very clear why Thanos was indeed the big bad Marvel Studios had been trying to get to for ten years.

This has been a fun edition of A Movie Ranking and I can’t wait to see who I will be featuring next week.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.

‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ Was Exactly What I Expected: Super Fun!

Two years ago my family and I watched Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle after hearing all of the praise surrounding it. When we watched the movie we were pleasantly surprised by how fun and entertaining the film turned out being. The sequel was announced and we couldn’t wait to see it.

Thanks to AMC Theatres for giving me a free coupon code to watch any rentable movie I wanted on demand because my family and I jumped at the chance to see Jumanji: The Next Level and boy did it not disappoint.

I’m going to say this outright, I liked this film more than the first one. There were some really fun character moments, I liked that it was basically the same as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle except with harder situations to overcome and more characters, and Danny Glover and Danny Devito’s additions to the movie was absolute perfection. Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black unsurprisingly knocked it out of the park but let’s give a shoutout to Awkwafina. ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ Drops Its Thrilling Final Trailer

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a welcome surprise in 2017, delivering a hilarious reboot that pleased the masses. Even my mother, who isn’t a huge fan of goofy movies like this, absolutely LOVED it. Now, its sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level is coming out in about a month and a half and the final trailer has arrived today. Here it is.

As expected, the trailer was a riot and clearly highlighted the very simple fact that this sequel is going to be yet another blast to watch. Last time we watched it we saw it at home but this time we’re determined to go watch it in the movie theaters and enjoy it with a crowd because it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ Gets an Official Trailer

Two years ago a surprise hit rivaled The Last Jedi at the box-office during the Christmas season and that surprise hit was Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It starred Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black in a hilarious, super-fun and creative reboot on a Robin Williams 90s’ classic; Jumanji. My family and I missed seeing it at the movies but we rented it and were blown away by how entertaining the film ended up being.

Recently I gave the film a rewatch and once again I couldn’t stop smiling. The movie’s simple plotline could’ve easily been a disaster but the writers told a concise story that didn’t drag too long or get too corny, which seemed a miracle in itself. The movie was so good I didn’t think there needed to be a sequel but now that I’ve seen the first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level my doubts have been washed away. Check it out.
