To be honest, I didn’t know anything about Kirk Douglas until a few days ago proceeding on a venture through Disney+. Currently, my family and I are having fun on the streaming service by watching the movies available on the service therefrom A-Z. One of the first movies on the list that we watched was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
The Disney film which came out in 1954 starred Kirk Douglas. It was the first film I had ever seen featuring the legendary Hollywood actor. It wasn’t until my parents told me that Kirk Douglas was the father of Michael Douglas, who I know thanks to the Ant-Man movies, that I really began to appreciate who he was.
So imagine my surprise when, yesterday, it was announced that Kirk Douglas had died at 103-years-old. What an incredible life he must’ve lived having seen so many impactful moments in American history over the last century. He even lived long enough to see the first African-American president. Wow!
I’m just thankful that I got to see one movie of his before his passing. RIP Kirk Douglas.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
