It’s TIme To Update My Ranking of the Marvel Villains

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my Marvel villains roster but a lot has come out since then and after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings I felt it was the perfect time to revisit this list. (Btw, I will be including some What If…? villains into this story as well because there are a couple that really stood out to me.) Okay, here we go.

30. Malekith

Malekith is still the worst MCU villain; the Dark Elf jibberish he speaks is ridiculous, and the entire design of the character is just not cool.

29. Karli Morgenthau

I wanted to like this character and while the writers tried to paint Karli in an empathetic light she and her scrappy band of Flag Smashers ultimately became some of my least favorite villains.

She brought nothing to this show and when she died I felt nothing.

28. Director Hayward

I think Director Hayward is undoubtedly the fandom’s most-hated villain and it’s easy to understand why. He is just so unbelievably dislikable and after seeing him manipulate the story about Wanda I disliked him even more!

27. Ghost

Part of the reason why I don’t watch Ant-Man and the Wasp anymore is because I don’t like Ghost. But when she does return in the future I’ll be happy to see her.

26. Ivan Vanko/Whiplash

“I want my bird” is the only thing that makes this character half-memorable.

25. Ronan the Accuser

While Guardians of the Galaxy will always be one of my favorite Marvel films Ronan is just…corny. And he’s even worse in Captain Marvel.

A Stubborn Fan’s Analysis: Mysterio and Erik Killmonger Are Not Dead!

One of the things that had plagued the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite their entertaining films were the poorly crafted villains. Obadiah Stane, Whiplash, The Mandarin, Ronin, Yellowjacket, Malekith, these were antagonists designed to be the clear-cut bad guy for the hero to defeat. There was nothing complex about them nor were they that memorable. And then the minds behind the MCU decided to change that narrative, creating villains that not only had intriguing storylines but who actually gave the heroes a run for their money.

Two such villains that I found to be absolutely extraordinary and really likable were Erik Killmonger and Mysterio. Continue reading A Stubborn Fan’s Analysis: Mysterio and Erik Killmonger Are Not Dead!

Movie Review Flashback: My Long-Awaited Review of ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’

This has been a fun year for Marvel, again. First, we had Captain Marvel which was a fun introduction to a powerful heroine. Then we had Avengers: Endgame which was expectedly brilliant. And last but definitely not least, we had Spider-Man: Far from Home.

I missed getting to see it in the movie theaters but as soon as it arrived on Digital I jumped at the chance to finally see this movie and it wasn’t long before I realized I was going to have a blast.

First off, if you’re wondering whether Spider-Man: Far from Home is better than Spider-Man: Homecoming, in short, it isn’t, but it isn’t worse either. I find that both films are practically the same in style, enjoyment, plot twists, and humor. But that’s actually a good thing considering that Spider-Man: Homecoming was pretty entertaining and clearly stands as one of my ten favorite Marvel movies. Throwback Friday: Mysterio Is the Best Villain (Besides Thanos) Since Erik Killmonger

For the past few years, we’ve been seeing greater villains in the MCU, which has been a relief. For so many years the MCU was viewed as a great franchise but its persistent weakness was its villains. With forgettable antagonists like Malekith (Thor: The Dark World), Ronan (Guardians of the Galaxy), or Yellow Jacket (Ant-Man) it’s always a relief when a Marvel movie arrives with a legitimately fantastic villain. And Spider-Man: Far from Home was one such Marvel film.

mysteriolooking.jpg

Like Black PantherSpider-Man: Far from Home delivers its villain on its own terms, choosing to flesh out the story a bit before leaving you riveted midway through the movie as the antagonist comes into play in a shocking way.

What I love is how the writers psychologically trick you into thinking that Quentin Beck is the good guy. And believe me. I did my homework.

I knew that Beck was a man who used special effects to make himself look larger than life while he deceived Spider-Man and became one of his greatest arch-nemesis in the comics. And yet, despite knowing this, I was honestly fooled. Continue reading Throwback Friday: Mysterio Is the Best Villain (Besides Thanos) Since Erik Killmonger

Ranking Spider-Man’s Villains

Every superhero has an archnemesis. Superman has Lex Luthor. Batman has the Joker. Captain America has Red Skull. Iron Man has…well, I guess, Whiplash or whoever. Black Panther has M’Baku or Erik Killmonger. Thor has Loki. And so on and so on. But Spider-Man. Spider-Man has a bunch of antagonists who are all equally fascinating. In fact, Spider-Man has my favorite superhero villains, by far.

Every antagonist that he faces is at the nth degree of coolness and so today, I wanted to rank all of Spider-Man’s villains (that I know of.) Enjoy!

11. Electro

electrojamiefoxx.jpg

Jamie Foxx was cast as Max Dillon/Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and while the character in the comics and cartoons is really cool, the big-screen adaptation of Electro was pretty horrendous. In fact, he’s my least favorite superhero villain in a movie of all time.

Jamie Foxx is a great actor but not even he could inject anything good into this role. Continue reading Ranking Spider-Man’s Villains

With every year that passes my ranking of the Marvel villains is updated as new films in the franchise deliver new antagonists to enjoy. With Spider-Man: Far from Home under my belt, here is my latest ranking of the Marvel villains. Enjoy!

22. Malekith

Malekith is still the worst villain in Marvel.

21. Ronan the Accuser

While Guardians of the Galaxy will always remain as one of my favorite Marvel films Ronan is just…corny.

20. Yellow Jacket

I like Yellow Jacket’s suit, I don’t like the man in the suit. He was way too cliché, his face was kind of annoying, and that ultimately is the problem.
