The Reasons Why the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Franchise Isn’t as Good as the ‘Harry Potter’ Movies

I’m a fan of the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I have been since I was a child. I remember getting taken to the movie theaters to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I was six at the time, and I loved it. It was scary, traumatizing even, but it’s a memory I’ll never forget. For so many years the Harry Potter have dazzled me and even as an adult I still watch these movies with a sense of awe that most movies can’t provide.

Because I love this world J.K Rowling created I found myself wanting to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them the other day for only the third time and so, I watched it, and once again I was harshly reminded how lackluster the film’s story and overall essence is compared to all eight of the Harry Potter movies. It’s almost strangely underwhelming in comparison to the films that helped shape my childhood.

The movie continues to try to recapture the same brilliance as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as it conveys to us new characters, a new world in the wizarding society that lives in New York, and all of the fantastical creatures, but it’s not long before the film falls flat, leaving one baffled by the movie’s lack of quality. The Pros and Cons of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, a film that returned us to the magical world of witches and wizards living among us. After seeing the film once I decided to watch it again to refresh my memory on the film’s quality and boy was I refreshed…but not in a good way.

J.K Rowling delivers a powerful film 2 hour and 14-minute movie set, I think this is correct, 11 months after the events of the first film. Unfortunately, its “power” turns into a jumbled hodgepodge of a film that works too desperately to feel dark and important but ends up leaving you confused and exhausted by the end of the film.

Today, after analyzing the film for only the second time, I’m going to share with you the pros and cons of this movie. (Unfortunately, the cons far outweigh the pros.) Enjoy! Continue reading The Pros and Cons of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’

Who’s Your Favorite ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Character?

The Harry Potter movies are some of the most popular films in the world with millions of fans who know the movies (and the books) back and forth. Now J.K Rowling is sharing with us a new story, one that’s set several decades before Harry Potter’s time and those are the Fantastic Beasts movies. Only two have come out so far and neither has risen to the exact mystique and storytelling level that the Harry Potter films achieved with such ease but there is certainly enjoyment one can find with these movies.

I personally like the films because of the characters. They’re engaging and have interesting enough storylines to keep me holding on to the overall story by a thread.

Because I like these characters so much I decided to make them part of this week’s Who’s Your Favorite? Enjoy! Continue reading Who’s Your Favorite ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Character?
