Yes, this post is a little late but it’s been a busy day. Usually for May the 4th I have an elaborate Star Wars post to write for you all. Instead, today, I’m simply enjoying the celebration, basking in the mild Star Wars news that dropped today…like the fact that Disney World’s new Star Wars resort will have lightsabers that actually turn on and retract like real lightsabers.Continue reading Happy May the 4th!
It’s May the 4th and for all Star Wars fans, you know what that means. It’s Star Wars day! This is a wonderful time of the year for Star Wars fans, as it gives us the chance to celebrate a franchise we love so much.
Throughout the world, people are celebrating Star Wars in their own special ways. Some people are trying recipes that end with galactically awesome conclusions. Some are chilling and letting the day pass by, celebrating the holiday in a personally peaceful manner. Some are participating in the Star Wars marathon that’s currently happening on TBS right now.
For me, I’m taking the day kind of easy.
While I write this post I’m sipping on a cup of tea in my amazing Death Star cup because what’s better than drinking a good cup of tea, in a Star Wars themed cup, on Star Wars day!? Yeah.
And this evening I plan to reacquaint myself with a Star Wars movie I haven’t watched in forever and that is the franchise’s latest installment, Solo: A Star Wars Story. I’m actually kind of excited. It’s been such a while since I’ve sat down and watched this film that I can say I’m legitimately thrilled to see this movie.
And that is how I’m celebrating Star Wars day.
What are you doing for May the 4th? Feel free to share your ideal celebration in the comments below.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. May the Fourth be with you.
I. Love. ‘Star Wars’! I’ve loved it before I even knew I was watching it. The music, the concept of the Force, the lightsabers, the Jedi, the Sith, the story, everything about Star Wars was special to me…and those were the prequels! When I discovered the original trilogy I became even more of a Star Wars fan and now with these new movies I’m practically bursting at the seams with excitement. So today on this glorious May the 4th I’m going to share with you all of the wonderful things that make me LOVE Star Wars so much. Enjoy!
The Opening Crawl
There is nothing in cinema history that makes me more excited for the beginning of a movie than the opening crawl for Star Wars. There’s just something truly magical about seeing those words, “In a galaxy far, far away” in that iconic blue color and then hearing John Williams’ fantastic classic Star Wars theme burst into your ears as you watch the opening crawl make its way up the screen with the backdrop of the galaxy’s millions of stars. Even if a Star Wars movie ends up being a little lamer than some of its other Star Wars predecessors the opening crawl never disappoints and it’s one of the main reasons why I love Star Wars so much.
It’s May the 4th (aka Star Wars day) and today it’s a celebration of all things Star Wars and so because it is such a celebratory day I’m going to share with you what I think has been the greatest celebration that has happened in a galaxy far, far away. Enjoy!
The Ewok Party
Who doesn’t love the Ewok party at the end of Return of the Jedi (especially the original version?) After such an emotional rollercoaster of a trilogy it was nice to see the story end happily with a silly party that can only bring a smile to your face. Now, I’m still not a Ewok fan but it’s a pretty happy ending.
The Naboo Ceremony
I’ve loved the ending of The Phantom Menace since I was a baby and it’s undoubtedly my second favorite celebration in Star Wars. I love the music (I’m getting chills just thinking about it) and it’s just such a fascinating celebration. And I’ve always been stunned by Queen Amidala’s attire at that part as well. The light pink color, the glorious cape, and her style at that part is just impeccable. I love this ending but there’s one celebration that is slightly better.
The Medal Ceremony
There is no greater celebration in Star Wars better than the iconic medal ceremony at the end of A New Hope. Not only is the music absolutely fantastic and chill-inducing every time but it’s just such a perfect fairy tale ending to an already wonderful movie. Every time I see this ending it makes me so happy for the triumphs of the Rebellion against the Empire and it’s undoubtedly the best celebration in Star Wars.
So, that’s the celebration that I love the most in Star Wars. It’s Star Wars day, it’s time to watch the movies, it’s time to get your Star Wars nerdism on, and the moment has arrived for all Star Wars fans to start getting ready for Solo: A Star Wars Story because tickets are on sale and that’s awesome! I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day. May the 4th be with you. 🙂
