It’s Batman Day: ‘The Dark Knight’ Is Hands Down the Best Superhero Movie Ever Made

Have you ever seen a perfect movie? A movie so undeniably brilliant and spot on that the more you watch it the better it gets? A movie that’s so good that you kind of can’t believe it’s that incredible? The Dark Knight is that movie for me.

I don’t watch The Dark Knight often. But every so often I get the unshakable desire to see it. And so last night with that fervor upon me I decided to watch it.

For two hours and 32 minutes, I was sucked into the dark and demented world of Gotham where a man as horrifically twisted and brilliant as The Joker resides to wreak havoc on Gotham’s citizens for no reason other than pure amusement. And as the story slowly builds upon The Joker’s madness the movie gets better and better and better until one can only stare at the screen in appreciative awe.

The Dark Knight is unlike any other superhero movie that’s been created. In fact, can we even say it’s a superhero movie? Batman isn’t exactly a hero, as the movie made clear. He’s just a man in a cynical world and sometimes the right choices mean you have to become the villain. Simple as that. But I guess that’s the reason why he’s a hero, right?

The Top Five Scariest Villains

It’s time to talk about some scary antagonists. Enjoy!

5. Jack Nicholson in The Shining

The Shining is a disturbing movie, through and through, and Jack Nicholson’s performance as the crazed father/eventual ax murderer is legendary. He doesn’t have a horrifying mask or a terrifying makeup job to make him scary. He’s just scary by himself with those arched eyebrows and that horrifying face. I watched this movie in complete horror and it wasn’t because of anyone except for Jack Nicholson (and the twins but that’s another story.) He’s definitely one of the scariest villains I have ever seen.

Could We See Two Actors Nominated at The Oscars This Year for Their Comic Book Movie Roles?

For the past couple of years, superhero movies have been recognized for more than just their impressive box-office numbers. Hugh Jackman’s last portrayal of the iconic superhero, Wolverine, came around in Logan, which would be nominated at The Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay. Then last year Black Panther was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture, and ended up winning three of them, shocking the world. At that moment, it became clear that superhero movies weren’t being looked at as merely popcorn flicks anymore.

These were solidly made, well-thought-out films that deserved just as much recognition as the more serious movies designed to receive Oscar buzz.

This year we have two AMAZING comic book movies that could get receive some serious Oscar buzz; Avengers: Endgame and Joker. For Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. could easily receive an Oscar nomination, considering that the film was his last outing as the iconic hero, Iron Man, and he evidently poured his heart into the final performance.

And with Joker just debuting at the Venice Film Festival, the buzz is persistent that this is one of the best movies of the year. And everyone agrees that Joaquin Phoenix will DEFINITELY be nominated for his role as the iconic DC Comics villain, The Joker. His portrayal of the dark and demented psychopath left viewers shaken and riveted all at once.

So, is it possible that this could be the first time we see two actors get the recognition they rightfully deserve for their roles in comic book movies at The Oscars? I sure hope so.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

The Final Trailer for ‘Joker’ Is Disturbing

Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker is getting more and more disturbing by the second. I saw the final trailer today and I’m going to tell the truth, it didn’t make me want to watch this movie. Not in the slightest.

The Joker has always been, in my opinion, one of the most disturbing fictional villains of all time and this trailer only proved that point. With no further delay, here’s the trailer so you can determine how you feel about it.

The funny thing about this trailer is it’s so disturbing I don’t even know if the movie is going to be good or not. If it is good it’s going to be one of the best comic book films of all time. If it’s bad, it’s going to be really, really bad. But I have a feeling that it’s not going to be a bad movie.

I just personally don’t have any desire to see this story on the big screen.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

‘The Dark Knight’ Is Hands Down the Best Superhero Movie Ever Made

Have you ever seen a perfect movie? A movie so undeniably brilliant and spot on that the more you watch it the better it gets? A movie that’s so good that you kind of can’t believe it’s that incredible? The Dark Knight is that movie for me.

I first wrote this post last November after watching The Dark Knight for only the third time in my life and now, after seeing it again for my fourth viewing on this fine Sunday, I decided to revisit this post and add a little bit more of why I think The Dark Knight is such an amazing movie. So, on that note, enjoy!

I don’t watch The Dark Knight on a daily to weekly basis. But every so often I get the unshakable desire to see it. And so last night with that fervor upon me I decided to watch it. I got sleepy, couldn’t finish it last night, so I decided to finish it this morning and boy was I pleased…again.

For nearly two hours, I was sucked into the dark and demented world of Gotham where a man as horrifically twisted and brilliant as The Joker resides to wreak havoc on Gotham’s citizens for no reason other than pure amusement. And as the story slowly builds upon The Joker’s madness the movie gets better and better and better until one can only stare at the screen in appreciative awe.

This Teaser Trailer for ‘Joker’ Is SUPER Disturbing

The Joker is truly one of the most disturbing characters to ever be created and it seems that DC Comics is only taking what makes this character so horrifying to the next level. I’m telling ya, Joaquin Phoenix was already chilling from his role as Commodus in Gladiator but now he’s really creeping me out. This couldn’t have been a better casting choice because Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker is truly one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. And if you don’t believe me, check out this trailer.

I’m going to say it. I think Joaquin Phoenix’s rendition of The Joker is creepier than Heath Ledger’s version. Yes, Heath Ledger’s Joker is iconic for his twisted jokes and his haunting persona but this trailer is just…horrifying.

I watched this trailer in stunned horror because the farther the trailer the more creepy it became. This movie is set to come out this October and I believe that’s the perfect choice to release this film because this looks worse than a horror movie.

Now, does the movie look good? Honestly, I don’t know. I’m frankly too disturbed to care.

How do you feel about the trailer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
