My Favorite Father Figures in Entertainment

It’s Father’s Day and that means it’s time to look at some of the greatest father figures in cinema. Enjoy!

Scott Lang a.k.a Ant-Man

There aren’t a lot of fathers in the MCU but the most prominent and consistent father/child relationship is Scott and Cassie Lang. Scott cherishes his daughter more than anything in the world and his daughter wants to be just like her dad. It’s an ultra-cute dynamic that has continued over the course of three movies (Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Avengers: Endgame.)

Now, it’s very likely that the next Ant-Man film will see our first superhero father/daughter team-up which is truly an exciting prospect!

‘The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride’ Is One of the Best Sequels I’ve Ever Seen!

I love The Lion King. It’s my favorite animated Disney movie and it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. Of course, I’ve heard of the infamous Disney sequels and how I shouldn’t watch them. And yet, recently I learned from a random person on the internet that maybe The Lion King sequel is actually pretty good. My sister and I watched it for the first time and I was overcome by sheer joy considering how good it was!

When we were little girls we had a CD for this movie that contained all of the film’s songs. The movie actually has several of my favorite Disney songs and I frankly think the songs are better than the ones in The Lion King except for Circle of Life and Be Prepared.

Lion King II: Simba's Pride Is Better Than You Remember | CBR

And the story, despite its simplicity, is so perfectly written. I found myself watching the film with so much anxiety, you know, because of The Lion King and that’s a good thing. If a movie can have you fretting through its entirety then that means it’s really got its grip on you and yeah, its grip was tight.

I loved this story, the characters, I loved seeing Simba in a fatherly light and his continuing story of being worthy of Mufasa’s legacy, and yeah, the music was pretty great. I can’t say this movie is better than The Lion King but it’s pretty darn close and well worth the watch.

I’m giving it 95 out of 100 and 4.5 out of 5 stars. It truly was a remarkable film that I will definitely be watching again.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

My Ten Favorite Animated Disney Movies

Disney movies are the best! They’re bright and colorful, beautifully animated, filled with the finest and most inspiring characters, and just really good. I’ve been watching a lot of Disney movies lately and yeah, I decided to do an updated ranking of my ten favorite Disney movies. Enjoy!

(This list focuses on Disney movies, not Disney/Pixar movies. There is a difference, lol.)

10. Beauty and the Beast

My first viewing of Beauty and the Beast was the live-action version and while I personally like that version the most, the animated classic is a classic for a reason.

The Beast is more expressive thanks to the animation and there’s real heart to this film. Plus, it makes me cry at the end. The live-action version does not.

My Ten Favorite Movie Characters

I. Love. Movies! That’s been the tagline of my blog since its inception in December 2016. And what is the basis of a great movie? An awesome character.

Every movie’s driving force are the characters that lead the story to other dimensions and have you asking for more. If a movie is awful there’s a good chance that the main character probably annoyed the heck out of you. And if a movie is phenomenal it’s very likely that the film had some pretty fantastic characters involved.

Today, I will share a tentative list of my ten favorite movie characters of all time (tentative because it could change at any second) and in no particular order. So, here goes.

Harry Potter

Growing up, my first love wasn’t Star Wars, it was Harry Potter. There still hasn’t been quite as amazing a children’s fantasy story brought to the big screen as these movies and at its beating heart lies Harry Potter himself, perfectly portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe.

Since the shockingly young age of eleven he had to carry an entire franchise on his shoulders and he did his job swimmingly. Yes, he was a kid, but he was a brave kid tackling impossible odds in a terrifying world full of monsters, creepy wizards, and a particular revenge-stricken monster named Voldemort.

His story never grows weak, the plot only thickens, and by the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban alone, there’s no doubt in my mind that he is undoubtedly one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

‘Black is King’ Will End July Off With a Bang!

Okay…if you were excited for Hamilton earlier this month then you will definitely be thrilled to learn that Beyonce is dropping a new visual album inspired by The Lion King called Black is King on July 31. The official trailer dropped today and I have to say…I am more than impressed. Take a look.

Beyoncé has never been afraid to tell stories highlighting and uplifting black people and this is nothing short of beautiful. The trailer is visually stunning and, if it’s anything like The Lion King, it has the chance to be something truly spectacular.

Disney+ is giving me a lot of joy this month and with more movie titles arriving this August, it looks like I’m going to have a great time browsing through the streaming service’s databank.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

My Favorite Disney Songs

One of the reasons why I love animated Disney movies so much are the classic songs that fill you with happiness and cover your arms in goosebumps. Those songs are what make movies like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin so incredibly memorable and enjoyable. Without these glorious songs I don’t think those movies would be quite as magical as they are still to this day. So, since I was thinking about Disney songs today, I’m going to share with you the ballads that make me the happiest and urge me to sing along. Enjoy!

“Under the Sea”

Who doesn’t love “Under the Sea?” I have never seen The Little Mermaid and yet this song is so amazing and fun to sing that I know it almost entirely by heart. Especially the last section of the song. It’s absolutely brilliant and it reminds me every time I hear it why I love Disney so much.

“When You Wish Upon A Star”

This just might be one of the most beautiful Disney songs ever created, for its inspiring lyrics and melodic tone is legitimately lovely. This is definitely one of my favorite Disney songs.
