The Trailer for ‘The Matrix Ressurections’ Is Here!

I’ve just recently entered the mind-bending world of The Matrix but when I watched it I understood why the franchise was so beloved because honestly, it was amazing. A very unique story that took sci-fi to the next level. I’ll have to watch it again, in fact.

So, anyway, eighteen years after the last Matrix movie Neo is back and well, the trailer was actually kind of awesome. Check it out.

I’ve got to admit, this trailer covered me in goosebumps. The cinematography makes this film look like John Wick meets The Matrix and the action looks amazing.

Do I think the story is going to be good? Honestly, I’m not quite sure. It feels very reminiscent of other long-awaited sequels that strike you in the face with nostalgia by returning to old moments from the original film rather than pushing the boundaries of something new.

Despite this, I most definitely will be seeing it this Christmas season either in theaters or on HBO Max.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

I Owe ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ An Apology

When I first watched Godzilla vs. Kong a little over three weeks ago I watched it on my trusty Chromebook and ultimately wasn’t a fan. Hong Kong’s destruction felt unnecessary to me, the human characters irked me to death, and it just didn’t live up to the hype. Now, three weeks later, I watched this film again with my family on my nice television and it was like night and day!

Yes, the humans were still kind of irking but I found myself staring at the screen in wide-eyed shock as Adam Wingard took us on a directorial spectacle that I could only imagine to be absolutely phenomenal in IMAX. And the sound! Wow. You could feel the power of these enormous monsters.

Godzilla vs. Kong – Official Trailer - YouTube

When the movie ended I decided to immediately write a post sharing my newfound thoughts on the film because Godzilla vs. Kong is actually kind of fantastic. In fact, I may even like it a little more than Godzilla: King of the Monsters which previously held on to the title of best Monsterverse film with a Godzilla-grip.

Nowadays, well, Godzilla vs. Kong is actually kind of epic and I’m not ashamed to admit that my previous review was definitely misguided.

Now, I do stick to the fact that this movie’s storyline is very weak, otherwise I would’ve enjoyed it on the Chromebook. But the spectacle is undeniable and a true masterpiece for the monster movie genre. Let’s hope the success of this film makes Warner Bros. want to continue these movies because I honestly need more.

With this rewatch I will now give this movie a solid B+. My last score was C- so yeah…watching it on the television was a major upgrade. Lol.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

A Fun Double Header: ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘Mortal Kombat’

It’s 9:30am ET as I write this and honestly I’m so amped up right now because I watched the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Mortal Kombat back to back and both blew my mind. So, let’s start with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

I have loved Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes since Captain America: The Winter Soldier but it wasn’t until this show that my heart absolutely exploded with adoration for both these characters and these actors. For these last six weeks I have been on an emotional ride that has been so much fun to observe and that finale was perfect.

WandaVision was great and it had a decent finale but it left a lot of loose threads. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier does not leave anything to the imagination or any questions unanswered. Everything is wrapped up in a nice little bow while also very clearly setting up plot threads for a second season, which is very exciting by the way.

I clapped, I beamed, I laughed, and yeah, I cried a lot. There were some truly profound moments in this finale that really spoke to the theme of this series and yeah, as an African-American, this series just really hit me in the feels.

I have loved Captain America for years and this show just cemented that fact yet again.

Tomorrow I’ll talk a bit more about the plot points in the finale and what we could expect from a second season but for now I’m just thanking Marvel for this masterpiece because that’s what it was.

A+

Is ‘Mortal Kombat’ Going to be Good?

Movies adapted by games are often terrible. I’m talking Warcraft and the Tomb Raider movies, Monster Hunter and Assassin’s Creed, etc. I’ve never seen a film based off of a game that had me absolutely thrilled. Now, this month on April 23, we’re getting a new-and-improved Mortal Kombat film and it’s got people excited. But do I think it will break the game-movie curse? Not in the slightest. Here’s the trailer.

I watched the trailer last month and I thought it looked ridiculous. The actors chosen to portray these characters, the dialogue, the only thing this trailer got right was the violence because Mortal Kombat is pretty much the most violent game I’ve ever played. So yeah, the trailer displayed an accurate amount of goriness.

Besides that, this movie looks ridiculous…and not in a fun way. But I will be watching it on April 23 so I can just laugh at the absurdity. I’m just honestly hoping it’s better than Godzilla vs. Kong because that movie bugged me so badly.

‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Is Worst Than I Thought It Would Be

Before I delve deep into this review allow me to let you know that I watched this at home and not in theaters, so my experience may be tarnished by the fact that I didn’t have IMAX speakers pounding my ears with the massive sound effects. That being said…Godzilla Vs. Kong is my least favorite of the Monsterverse movies and here’s why.

Godzilla vs. Kong' Review | Hollywood Reporter

Going into this movie I was not expecting some profound, emotional story with great character developments and scintillating action sequences. I was expecting the humans to be standing around looking dumbfounded as Godzilla and Kong beat each other to a pulp and destroy everything in their path. And that’s exactly what this movie gave us, but what this film lacked that the other movies didn’t was a slight likability to the characters and a fantastic climax.

Godzilla Vs. Kong focuses on Kong more than anything, delivering a brief skirmish between the title characters forty minutes into the movie before waiting about thirty-forty minutes to get to the part everyone was waiting for. The climactic battle takes place in Hong Kong where Godzilla and Kong go at it like there’s no tomorrow, treating the city like their own personal playground and demolishing it with no regret, leaving me to realize that millions of people were being killed meaninglessly and yet the humans that we supposedly care about never get harmed.

Of course, there’s always a bigger monster, that being Mecha Godzilla who Godzilla and Kong have to fight in order to retain their supremacy. Honestly, I just sat back and watched this movie with such a lack of interest or enjoyment that even I was a bit surprised at my lackadaisical nature.

I’ve seen Transformers movies far better than this and yet they got far worse Rotten Tomatoes scores. How is this any different because I found this movie to be on the level of Transformers: The Last Knight and I personally thought that was a slightly better movie (’cause I’ve seen it all the way through three times.)

All in all, Godzilla Vs. Kong will please moviegoers if they are looking for a mega monster mash in IMAX and others who watch it at home may enjoy it too but I personally was not a fan.

I’m giving this film 70 out of 100 and 3 out of 5 stars,

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
