A Wyatt Russel Appreciation Post

One of the reasons why I have always been so blown away by Marvel Studios is their impeccable casting choices. I’m talking since the beginning; Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, you get the point. Marvel Studios knows how to cast!

The last great casting of characters that I feel cannot be replaced are Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and Tom Holland as Spider-Man. And then there is Wyatt Russel, the newest member of that perfect casting list that Marvel Studios has absolutely nailed.

A decade ago, Wyatt Russel was 24-years-old and actually auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America. Of course, he didn’t get it and a certain Chris Evans did but…he went for it. The MVP of this week’s episode, however, is undoubtedly Wyatt Russel a.k.a John Walker. He gives a heck of a performance as the new Cap and exploring the character’s flaws. It’s very clear that this new Captain America is NOT Steve Rogers and that Sam Wilson is the exact opposite, or more appropriately, the perfect person to embody the role as the new Captain America. I know that at some point Sam is going to take on the mantle and this show is building to that moment. When it happens, I’m probably going to shed a little tear.
