Our First Look At the New Suits for ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’ Is Here!

Shazam! was the surprise that I wasn’t expecting in 2019. I saw the trailers, I watched the tv spots, but I didn’t think the movie was going to be that good. Then I saw its shocking 90% Rotten Tomatoes score (I think it was 92% at the time) and my family and I went to go see it in IMAX. Suffice it to say, we loved it!

And the plot twist of all the kids becoming Shazam heroes was a surprise I wasn’t expecting. We all clapped with glee in response.

Since then, I’ve watched the movie several times. In fact, I was watching Shazam! last night on TBS. It’s such a fun movie with such a lovable cast and storyline. Unsurprisingly, besides The Batman, it’s the DC Comics movie I’m most excited for and right now they’re filming.

Because the director, David F. Sandberg, understands that there will be photos of the film leaking online he went ahead and shared our first look at the new suits for our Shazam family. Here they are.

Yep, that’s an upgrade ladies and gentlemen! And in case you don’t see the difference…

‘Shazam’ vs. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Which movie wins?

Since the days of comics Marvel and DC Comics have warred over its material and many of the heroes tend to be very similar. Green Lantern and Captain Marvel are practically identical characters, there’s The Flash and Quicksilver, Batman is a rich and super smart vigilante and Iron Man is a rich and super smart superhero, oh the list could go on and on but you get the point.

Now, even the movies are very much alike. Batman vs. Superman is Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad is Guardians of the Galaxy, Justice League tried to be The Avengers, they even have the same director, and Shazam! is Spider-Man: Homecoming. That’s why I thought it perfect to compare these two films and determine which is better. Enjoy!

‘Shazam 2’ Gets a Title

During a really fun panel featuring Zachary Levi and other members of the cast the title for the highly-anticipated sequel was announced; Shazam: Fury of the Gods.

It sounds exciting and should be a blast to watch. I really loved Shazam for its youthful energy and its unique title hero and the fact that we’ll be getting multiple Shazams this time around sounds like so much fun!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.

‘Shazam!’ A Second Time

Shazam! a second time. What can I say about it? It’s cute.

I’m not saying the movie is bad because it isn’t but it’s definitely no Marvel movie. Marvel films are easily rewatchable. I found, after watching this a second time, that I will DEFINITELY not be watching it again.

The jokes didn’t land as frequently, the surprises weren’t as grand, the villain is even more annoying the second time around, and the story is so simple that a rewatch doesn’t provide anything new or exciting to the overall viewing.

Now, if I was a little girl, Shazam! would undoubtedly be one of my favorite superhero movies, for Shazam’s infectious personality is something, as a child, that I would’ve loved. Forget Superman. I like Shazam.

If you have children, please share this movie with them, if you haven’t already. It is totally the family-friendly comic-book movie I recommend to parents. (However, there is some foul language and some suggestive material throughout the film…validating its PG-13 rating.)

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Movie Review Flashback: The DC Universe Strikes Twice with ‘Shazam!’

Shazam. Who in the world is Shazam? I had never heard of this character before and the name just sounded, well, corny. So I figured this was going to be another DC Comics flop that I wouldn’t want to see but as critic reviews began pouring in and I saw that nearly all of the reviews were astoundingly positive I began to have second thoughts. Maybe this movie was good after all. And then when its Rotten Tomatoes would end up being 91% I figured I had to see what all the fuss was about. I’m so glad I did.

Shazam! isn’t anything special. It’s the story of a fourteen-year-old boy who finds an ancient power and with the simple uttering of the word “Shazam!” he becomes a superhero. It’s very much your ordinary superhero origin story with a mostly predictable plot but the concise storytelling and the legitimate surprises the movie brings is what makes the movie a blast to watch.
