Here’s the First Excerpt of My New Book: PIL: The Assassin

For the past two years I have made sure to debut a new YA-fantasy book at the beginning of spring. Well, it’s almost spring, I’ve got a new book coming out in exactly three weeks, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Two years ago, PIL was the first book I had ever published, and the response was exhilarating. I was astounded by the feedback I received for the book, and it validated my love for writing and finally being an official author.

Now, two years later, I’m releasing the sequel to that first book of The Women of Adalor Saga: PIL: The Assassin.

PIL was a story about the title character having to reconcile with a terrible tragedy and she had two choices: moving on with her life after the tragic events, or get revenge? She chose the latter.

The sequel, PIL: The Assassin, is how Pil deals with the consequences of her actions following the first book, and it’s not easy for her. She’s now wanted and being pursued by two bounty hunters. Will she be able to outrun the choices of her past?

Here’s the first excerpt of my new book, PIL: The Assassin.

Pil has never been so scared in her life.

She hurried through New Armore’s flooding alleyways, ignoring the ragged individuals who hid their faces beneath drenched hoods as they huddled in sodden corners. When they did glance at her, the eyes that met hers were hollow orbs filled with hopelessness. Their plight didn’t make her feel any better.

Each time she hears a horse’s whinny or the distinct clink of an Enforcer’s spurs, her heart skips a beat. As she comes to the end of a particularly narrow alley, she peeks out into the broadest lane found in New Armore: Spectator’s Row. It was usually a busy road known for its various restaurants and entertainment venues. At the moment, it appears like a ghost town as sheets of rain pour down the street, dousing the pretty signs and gilded three to five-story tall buildings.

“I’m so close to home,” she whispers to herself.

Her heart hammers in response. She steps out into the road, prepared to dash to the adjacent alley across the way when she hears the dreaded clop of a horse’s hooves. She stops to see a rider in full gallop thundering toward her. She can make out the bold red feather on the rider’s hat even in the harsh rain. It’s the constable!

She whirls, hurling back into the alley at full speed.

“Pil Galerunner!” the constable yells, but her cry disappears in the wind.

Pil runs faster than ever, unsheathing her daggers as she glances backward. To her great dismay, the Wolven constable joins her on foot in the alley, leaving her horse behind—Pil curses.

A Wolven’s speed was five times that of a human. There is no chance that Pil can outrun her, so she doesn’t even try. Instead, she spins, adopting a battle-ready stance as she prepares to take on the constable. The constable’s wolfish features spread in a vicious grin as she continues to charge at Pil.

So, there’s my first excerpt. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share a couple of more excerpts, and very soon I will reveal the cover. Until then, I thank you for taking the time to read this post, and I hope you have a fantastic day.
