Is Marvel Better than ‘Star Wars’?: Part 1

This is a question that has been plaguing me since Infinity War. It’s a question that I thought I would never ask myself but after years and years and years of consistently good-to-great content from the MCU it was a question I had to start honestly asking myself. But it’s a question I never answered…until now.

(This is a longread.)

Think about it. Star Wars has been wholly consistent over the past four decades. In 1977, George Lucas created an instant global phenomenon out of a film that mashed the qualities of a great fairy tale (a young boy goes on a life-changing adventure with a wizard, saves a princess, and becomes a hero) with the imagination of a sci-fi fantasy epic unlike anything else that had been created before.

Like Tolkien, he created a world with languages and creatures and characters that were as defined as historical figures, worlds, and animals in the real world. It was incredible, it was hypnotizing, game-changing, and it spawned a franchise that literally has millions of fans across the globe, me included.

My Review of ‘Force Collector’

I’ve finally read another Star Wars novel and this novel just so happened to be Force Collector; one of those stories that was leading up to The Rise of Skywalker.

Written by Emmy-winning author, Kevin Shinick, Force Collector follows the story of 17-year-old Karr Nug Sin and his burgeoning power with the Force as he finds out when he touches stuff he acquires visions that make him pass out. He wants to figure out if he has the chance to become a Jedi and he wants to learn the story of the Jedi that has been hidden away through the decades.

What transpires is a coming-of-age story that is both intriguing and sometimes boring but ultimately led to a satisfying conclusion that had me positively happy. Force Collector is not the best Star Wars novel I’ve read and honestly, halfway through, I was ready to give it a B.

But then it finally got somewhere and I have to admit, I really liked the second half of the story. So now, I have to give the novel a solid A-.

Force Collector isn’t a must-read and ultimately, it doesn’t feel that important in the grand scheme of things but yeah, it was pretty good and now if this character ever shows up in future shows, animated or live-action, I know who he is!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.

Disney, I Hope You Didn’t Forget About that Lando and Jannah Series

I watched The Rise of Skywalker a couple of nights ago and I remembered something; the last scene with Lando Calrissian was totally setting up what could be an awesome Disney+ series featuring none other than Lando and Jannah.

Judging from how good The Mandalorian is the thought of a Disney+ series following these two characters as they try to decipher Jannah’s lineage sounds fascinating. Plus, I’ve got a theory that defected stormtroopers are Force-sensitive individuals like Finn, meaning we could potentially get a story showcasing Jannah’s journey to becoming a Jedi. Now how cool would that be?

Honestly, The Mandalorian has opened an entire range of possibilities for the future of Star Wars entertainment and I’m here for all of it.

Don’t forget, we’re still getting that Cassian Andor series. And the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. It’s going to be so much fun!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day. May the Force be with you.

That Unforgettable Moment in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

If you’re an avid reader of my blog you will know that I pretty much despise The Rise of Skywalker for practically everything that it is. The story makes absolutely no sense in context with the Skywalker saga, Rey’s Palpatine return fills like a swing from left field and possesses no weight in the actual movie, and the film’s climactic battle on Exegol feels like a joke.

But…despite my annoyance with this movie and about 90% of its narrative choices, there is one moment that feels perfect and I wouldn’t change for the world. And that is the Poe-flashlight scene.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #10-‘The Rise of Skywalker’

I cannot tell you enough how excited I was to eventually see the teaser for The Rise of Skywalker and it beyond delivered! I sat in front of my television screen watching the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration breathlessly, my heart pounding in my chest and my palms sweating. When it was time for the teaser I had to breathe calmly and prepare myself so I could soak up every second of the trailer. I wasn’t ready!

The first minute and eight seconds were breathtaking, filling me with such exhilaration as I was able to see my favorite heroine (at the time) again. The distinction between good and evil seemed clear as she was adorned in a crisp white version of her scavenger outfit in The Force Awakens.

Approaching her seemed to be none other than Kylo Ren, ominous and faceless in his TIE Fighter as he sought to run our Rey over. But oh no, what did Rey do? She flipped over the frickin’ ship!!!!

My head exploded. I exclaimed in sheer disbelief that I was seeing something so cool. It was an amazing experience. And then…we can’t forget about that chilling cackle of a villain us Star Wars fans never thought we’d see again on the big screen…Palpatine!

I screamed. And then I sat there with my mouth in disbelief. I rushed to watch the teaser again. Chills ran down my spine. My eyes were wide. I was just on another level of excitement. Continue reading Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #10-‘The Rise of Skywalker’

What’s Your Favorite Sequel Trilogy Teaser Poster?

I love movie posters! Teaser posters, official posters, they are all very, very fascinating. Sometimes posters can be a bit underwhelming but overall they provide the vibe for a movie long before you’ve seen the story. Here’s a look at the three teaser posters for The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. Enjoy!

The Force Awakens

This teaser poster is very simple and to the point. These four characters are the main characters of this new trilogy, the illustrated effect gives it an original trilogy feel, and there is a clear distinction between the dark and the light, with Rey unexpectedly standing in the middle. Fascinating. Continue reading What’s Your Favorite Sequel Trilogy Teaser Poster?
