‘Dune: Part Two’ Has Been Greenlit and Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ Has a Teaser Trailer

Yes, yesterday Dune: Part Two was greenlit by Legendary who was ultimately the production company that would decide the sequel’s fate. Everyone was waiting (im)-patiently for the official announcement which, thankfully, dropped yesterday.

The news was met with genuine joy/excitement from the thousands of people, like me, who are beyond thrilled to see Villeneuve’s vision for Part Two. The film was also given a date: October 23, 2023.

That’s a reasonable date. It gives Villeneuve and the returning crew time to prepare themselves for filming the project as well as plenty of time to smooth out the kinks if need be. And in 2023 we’ll get the second in what Villeneuve has planned to be a trilogy. That’s a very exciting and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ Rumbles But It Also Fumbles

Tssk, tssk, tssk. Godzilla, Godzilla. Why do you always break my heart? This is one of the most epic creations in movie history. Godzilla, like King Kong, and the dinosaurs for the Jurassic Park movies, are incredible beasts that deserve to be brought to life in the most magnificent ways on the big screen. TheĀ Jurassic ParkĀ franchise, however, is the only franchise who seems to handle the story surrounding these ancient creatures in an enjoyable way.

Five years ago my family and I went to seeĀ Godzilla. We were royally disappointed. I mean just absolutely livid at how terrible the film was. I didn’t think I would fall for the trap again. And then, with every special IMAX viewing ofĀ Godzilla: King of the Monsters I wanted to see the movie more and more. I saw the 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes. I ignored it. I figured people hatedĀ Transformers: Age of ExtinctionĀ (it has an 18% Rotten Tomatoes score) but I LOVED it. I loved it so much I went and saw it three times at the movie theaters. Maybe this film would be better than the critics said it was. It wasn’t.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #2-‘Interstellar’

Interstellar was the first Christopher Nolan movie I had ever seen in the movie theaters. It was because of this trailer I’m about to show you that my family and I went to see it on a beautiful but late Thanksgiving night six years ago. So, with no further delay, here’s the trailer.

Perfection is the word I will use for this trailer and here’s why I choose such a sacred word in the English language.

  1. 98% of the trailer consists of shots and moments from the first hour and twenty minutes of the movie. Only two shots are shown from the second half of the film and those shots refrain from any spoilers whatsoever, leaving viewers with a chance to be truly surprised going into the film.
  2. The tone is somber but laced with hope due to a powerful combination of emotion and music that leaves one on the verge of tears and with chills over their entire body. I mean, that music is insane! In IMAX, it injects itself into your very soul and left me on more than one occasion absolutely determined to see this movie. I’m glad my family and I actually did go see it, for it is undoubtedly one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen.

This trailer leaves much for the imagination but it doesn’t hold back from providing plenty of awesomeness along the way.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Movie Review Flashback: Why, ‘Warcraft’, Why?

Remember nearly two and a half years ago whenĀ Warcraft,Ā the film based on the highly-enjoyable, very popular MMO calledĀ World of Warcraft, charged into theaters? And remember when it turned out to be a flop, overall making a profit at least worldwide but proving the point that games can’t be turned into live-action films? Well, I missedĀ WarcraftĀ in the movie theaters two years ago but I did manage to see it when it was released digitally. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like it at all. I was mortified that a game so epic could be turned into a movie so horrid and I vowed to never watch it again.Ā Jump forward to this month and I somehow managed to get the nerve to watch it again.

Have you ever watched a movie, thought it was awful, and then watched it again and actually enjoyed it? Well, this was what I was hoping would happen on my second viewing of the film. It did not happen. I was able to enjoy it a little more than I did last time, for I was kind of able to grasp what the world was going on in its very confusing storyline, but overall I came away from the movie disappointed yet again.

And what makes it so agonizing is the film could’ve easily been a good movie but it had too many problems.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #9-‘Godzilla’

I’m not a huge GodzillaĀ fan but I still remember how epic the teaser for 2014’sĀ GodzillaĀ was. My sister, my father, and I watched the teaser and just knew we had to see the movie. Turns out, the movie wasn’t that great. In fact, it was pretty terrible! However, after revisiting this teaser, I can’t deny its brilliance. Here it is.

Chills! It was so dire, so epic, and our fleeting glances of the mighty Godzilla was perfectly put into the film. This is a trailer worth remembering, and thus, it has reached the ninth spot on this top 20 favorite trailers list.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.

‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ At Home

Last year on my 21st birthday I went to seeĀ Godzilla: King of the MonstersĀ and I was somewhat impressed but mostly disappointed. The monster action was fantastic but once again this type of movie was ruined by the humans in the story.

Recently, while enjoying a free trial of HBO on Amazon Prime Video, I decided to revisit the film and was very surprised by the enjoyability of the movie. Well, at least the first half.

The first half of the movie features the film’s two best action sequences with the rise of King Ghidorah versus Godzilla in Antarctica and Roda versus King Ghidorah. It’s pretty mind-blowing the extent of detail and epicness of these incredible monsters going at it full throttle.

The second half is undoubtedly the lamer side of things. The humans become the main event and the unnecessary drama/not-that-emotional sacrifices weigh down what ultimately could’ve been a freaking juggernaut of a monster movie experience.

However, after my recent return to the film, I’m actually to see what happens inĀ Godzilla vs. Kong, which should be quite the epic showdown. We’ll see.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.
